  • Publication number: 20130122296
Abstract: A slickline cable comprises an axially extending strength member having a first diameter proximate an upper end and at least one smaller second diameter distal from the upper end. A coating material is adhered to at least a portion of the length of the strength member to form a substantially uniform outer diameter along the slickline cable. A method for making a slickline comprises forming an axially extending strength member having a first diameter proximate an upper end and at least one smaller second diameter distal from the upper end. A coating material is adhered to at least a portion of the length of the strength member to form a substantially uniform outer diameter along the slickline cable.

  • Patent number: 7775100
Abstract: A real-time line management system and associated methods. A line management system for use in conjunction with an operation in a subterranean well includes a line installed in the well during the operation, and a computing device which indicates a used life of the line during the operation. A method of managing a line used in an operation in a subterranean well includes the steps of: installing the line in the well during the operation; and determining a used life of the line while the line is installed in the well. A method of managing a line used in multiple operations in one or more subterranean wells includes the steps of: estimating conditions which will be experienced by the line during a future operation; and predicting before the future operation what a used life of the line will be after the line is used in the future operation.

  • Patent number: 7367397
Abstract: A downhole impact generator (60) is adapted to be moved to a target location within a wellbore (68) for transmitting a jarring force to a well tool (72) positioned in the wellbore (68). The downhole impact generator (60) includes a downhole power unit (62) having a moveable shaft (66) and a jarring tool (64). The jarring tool (64) is operably engageable with the well tool (72) and is operably coupled with the moveable shaft (66) of the downhole power unit (62) such that when the jarring tool (64) is operably engaged with the well tool (72), linear movement of the moveable shaft (66) energizes the jarring tool (64) such that a jarring force can be transmitted by the jarring tool (64) to the well tool (72).

  • Patent number: H945
Abstract: A connecting apparatus for two tubular members including an adapter sleeve extending over the end portion of one of the members in a coaxial relationship therewith and adapted to abutt the end of the other member. A threaded nut means extends over the adapter sleeve in engagement therewith, and is adapted to threadedly engage the outer surface of the corresponding end portion of the other member to connect the members together. The adapter sleeve increases in cross-section in a direction towards the end of the one member to decrease the stress on the latter member accordingly.
