  • Publication number: 20170263127
Abstract: A method is provided for use with a vehicle collision system. The method includes detecting one or more object(s) in a host vehicle's field-of-view, calculating time-to-pass estimates for each of the detected object(s), wherein the time-to-pass estimates represent an expected time for a reference plane of the host vehicle to pass a reference plane of the detected object(s), and determining a potential collision between the host vehicle and the one or more detected object(s) based on the time-to-pass estimates.

  • Publication number: 20170106857
Abstract: A method is provided for use with a vehicle collision system. The method includes identifying one or more objects along a side surface of the vehicle, determining a highest threat object based on the vehicle's trajectory relative to the one or more identified objects, calculating a time-to-collision between the highest threat object and the side surface of the vehicle, determining a remedial action by comparing the time-to-collision with at least one threshold, and initiating the remedial action to avoid a collision between the side surface of the vehicle and the highest threat object.

  • Publication number: 20170021830
Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling an adaptive cruise control feature of a vehicle are provided. In accordance with one embodiment, a system includes a sensing unit and a processor. The sensing unit is configured to detect passengers, other than a driver, in a vehicle. The processor is coupled to the sensing unit. The processor is configured to at least facilitate controlling an adaptive cruise control feature of the vehicle using a first profile if no passengers are detected in the vehicle, and a second profile, different from the first profile, if one or more passengers are detected in the vehicle.
