Abstract: A dispenser and method for applying self-adhesive tapes to surfaces of construction lumber, such that pieces of lumber can be accurately located to each other. The dispenser includes a frame comprising spaced-apart member and a roll of adhesive tape rotatably mounted between the spaced-apart members so that the tape is dispensed from the roll and travels toward a rearward end of the frame. Guides are pivotably attached to the spaced-apart members of the frame, with each guide attached so that a portion thereof is pivotable to a position below the lower edge of its respective spaced-apart member. A resilient member is disposed between the lower edges of the spaced-apart members and applieds a downward pressure on the tape as it travels beneath the frame. The tape has symbols and numerical information along a length thereof for locating the pieces of lumber relative to each other.
