  • Patent number: 8092356
Abstract: An ankle exercise device increases user comfort and is capable of exercising each ankle without having to switch a fulcrum from one side to the other. The exercise device includes an upper section having a first stiffness characteristic and a lower section that is connected to upper section and has a second stiffness characteristic that is different than the first stiffness characteristic. A fulcrum extends from the lower section and is adapted to support the exercise device for pivoting movement relative to a floor or other support surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 19, 2009
Date of Patent: January 10, 2012

  • Patent number: 4986534
Abstract: The invention pertains to a method and apparatus for biomechanically analyzing the physical characteristics of the lower extremety including hip, knee and ankle joints and the muscles and ligaments, and the functioning thereof. A frame includes a weight sensing platform and a foot support in the form of a disc is mounted above the platform for nutation about a vertical axis. The periphery of the disc engages the platform, and actuates platform switches whereby a patient standing upon the disc with one foot may angularly displace the disc in a nutating manner applying weight to the platform through the disc periphery, and recording apparatus in the form of computerized data and a visual display permits analysis of the application of weight to the platform. The disc may be selectively vertically adjustable relative to the platform to vary the analysis characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4653748
Abstract: An ankle exercising device comprising a substantially flat platform and a hemispherical member secured to the bottom surface of the flat platform at its diametric planar surface. The peripheral contour of the platform is preferably configured with respect to the center of the hemispherical member so that the maximum tilt angle of the platform at any peripheral point coincides with the average or normal degree of movement of the biomechanical ankle structure in that direction. At least the top surface of the platform includes indicia so that the foot can be placed in a proper position on the platform, whereby angular movement of the ankle on the device corresponds with the average maximum biomechanical function of the ankle structure.

  • Patent number: 4244477
Abstract: A container for a potable liquid in the form of an elongated cylinder having a screw cap with two holes secured to the top of the cylinder. The cylinder is double walled and includes an insulating material disposed between the two walls. A drinking straw passes from the liquid through one of the holes, forms a loop outside the container, and the outer end of the straw is insertable into the second hole. An annular sealing ring is provided in each hole so that the straw fits snugly in the two holes in a manner such that the loop can serve as a handle for carrying the container.
