  • Patent number: 11835260
Abstract: A door includes an air purifying assembly is secured to the door for filtering air flowing through the door. The air purifying assembly includes an outer housing, a fan housing in the outer housing, a filter housing secured to the outer housing, a filter in the filter housing, and a fan in the fan housing for providing a flow of air through the fan, fan housing, and out of the outer housing and outwardly through the door for purifying air. A plurality of doors in a structure, and an air purifying assembly in each door in the structure may purify the air in the structure. With a forced air unit for the structure, the air from the plurality of doors is discharged to the return air space and recirculating the purified air from rooms which include the doors having air purifying assemblies. Both an air purifying door structure and a method of purifying air in a structure utilizing the air purifying doors are included as claims.

  • Patent number: 11255121
Abstract: Hollow core door apparatus for preventing the build up of pressure in a room having a register through which air flows into the room and the door includes an inside door skin and an outside door skin, and the door skins includes openings through which air flows and a center panel between the skins and spaced part from the skins. The center panel has an outer perimeter greater than the inner perimeter of the openings. The center panel is spaced apart from the skins, and also from the adjacent stiles and rails. A chamber is formed about the panel and between the adjacent stiles and rails and the openings in the skins. Air flow from the room is through the opening in the inside skin into the chamber, around the outer periphery of the panel, and outwardly through the opening in the outside skin in a non-linear manner.

  • Patent number: 11248415
Abstract: An energy recovery ventilator door assembly includes an exterior door for a structure, the door including an inside fan and an outside fan for providing flows of air to a manifold. The manifold includes an inside manifold conduit for receiving stale inside air and an outside manifold conduit for receiving fresh outside air. A heat sink between the two conduits recovers heat energy from the warmer flow of air flowing in the conduits and transmits the recovered heat energy to the cooler of the flows of air in the conduits. A crossover element routs the inside conduit from the inside of the door to the outside of the door, and routs the outside conduit of the door to the inside of the door. Thus the air in the inside manifold conduit is vented to the outside of the structure through the door and the air in the outside manifold conduit is vented to the inside of the structure through the door.

  • Patent number: 11215006
Abstract: A stile and rail frame exterior solid core door brings fresh outside air into a structure horizontally through a ventilator assembly. The ventilator assembly includes an upper housing. The upper housing includes a filter for filtering the fresh air and a fan in a fan housing provides a flow of air into the upper housing and through the filter and into the structure horizontally through the door. Air flow through the housing is controlled by a movable damper in the upper housing. An actuator moves the damper in response to electronic input signals. Stale air is exhausted from the structure in a similar manner, through a fan in a lower housing. The upper and lower housings with their fans extend substantially the width of the door between the stiles. Electronic elements are in a housing in the door, and respond to information appropriately sensed by sensor elements placed in the structure.

  • Patent number: 10676984
Abstract: A hollow core door for a room, the door includes a stile and rail frame, an inside skin having a plurality of holes extending therethrough, an outside skin having a plurality of holes extending therethrough, both skins secured to the frame. The door includes a-panel disposed between the inside and outside skins, the panel having a surface area greater than an area of the pluralities of holes, and having openings disposed laterally of the pluralities of holes. The panel includes a slider panel having a plurality of slider panel openings, the slider panel slidable to alternately allow or block a flow of air. The pluralities of holes are located whereby air flows inwardly through the plurality of holes in the inside skin, divides, flows about the panel and through its openings, and outwardly through the plurality of holes in the outside skin in a non-linear manner.

  • Patent number: 10337238
Abstract: A ventilator door brings fresh outside air into a structure through an outside opening and a fan or blower pulls outside air into a duct in the door. The air flows through the duct and into the structure through an inside grill remote from the outside opening. Heat is transferred from the flow of air to a heat sink disposed in the duct to cool the fresh air flowing into the duct. A regenerative heat sink may be used to capture heat from a flow of air from inside the structure and transfer the captured heat to a flow of outside air flowing into the structure. An inside opening in the door generally opposite to the outside opening. The air flow through the openings is controlled by movable panels by aligning or by misaligning openings in the movable panels with the openings in the outside and inside panels. A microprocessor controls the movable panels and the fan or blower in response to sensors inside and outside of the door.

  • Patent number: 9085933
Abstract: A hollow core door filters air flowing through the interior of the door between top and bottom rails of a perimeter frame and may absorb and decompose noxious or and undesirable materials used in the manufacture of door components and undesirable material in the air in the room or structure in which the door is located. The scrubbing action is accomplished by use of filtering material secured to one or both the top and bottom panels secured to the perimeter frame and to interior core elements. Air flowing within the door passes over the filtering or scrubbing material and the noxious material and gases are removed from the flowing air by the scrubbing material. Each of several embodiments of internal structural elements and materials allows for the flowing of the air to be cleansed and for undesirable materials or compounds to be absorbed and decomposed.
