    Abstract: A method and probe for sampling a high temperature gas mixture wherein a sample of the high temperature gas mixture withdrawn by the probe is cooled very rapidly to prevent any change in the chemical composition of the sample as it is cooled. The probe is elongated having a first passageway extending from a sampling orifice at the front end of the probe and having a rearwardly directed annular orifice in the first passageway communicating with a second passageway.
