  • Patent number: 10025319
Abstract: A controller includes a processor and a memory storing processor-executable instructions in a host vehicle. The processor is programmed to designate a target vehicle as a collision risk upon determining that an intersection angle between the host vehicle and the target vehicle is between preset lower and upper bounds and an absolute value of an azimuth angle rate of change of the host vehicle is below a preset threshold.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 31, 2016
Date of Patent: July 17, 2018
    Assignee: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC
Inventors: Nanjun Liu, Jerry H. Engelman, Ahsan Qamar, Timothy Drotar, Kun Deng, Alex Maurice Miller

  • Patent number: 8810383
Abstract: A device for controlling an adaptive cruise control system based on driver status is provided. The device comprises a controller configured to receive at least one driver status signal indicative of the driver being either a primary driver or a secondary driver and to determine whether the driver of the vehicle is the one of the primary driver and the secondary driver based on the at least one driver status signal. The controller is further configured to allow control by a primary driver over operating parameters of an ACC system and to allow the primary driver to establish a restricted mode in which a secondary driver is prevented from making certain dis-allowed changes in the operating parameters.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 19, 2014

  • Publication number: 20140052358
Abstract: A system for trailbraking includes a velocity sensor providing a velocity output signal, a second sensor providing a second output signal and a trailbraking controller for receiving the velocity output signal and the second output signal. The trailbraking controller will provide an output control signal conditioned by the velocity output signal and the second output signal when indicative of an emergency avoidance maneuver. A method for trailbraking is provided.
