  • Patent number: 10717011
Abstract: Redirection of physical media interaction is disclosed. For instance, a read action can be redirected from an optical disc to a secure virtualization module that virtualizes optical discs. The module can take digital packages in one format and present them to optical disc drivers configured to read the content of such packages in a different format. Thus, the module allows for online media content to remain in its native format while being accessible to existing native gaming console resources configured to read content in a different format. In other aspects, the module can perform various security checks on the packages, including hashing the fragments of packages, where such fragments can contain licensing provisions that can be examined by the module. The module itself can be downloaded and installed onto a gaming system or it can be pre-installed.

  • Publication number: 20070005450
Abstract: Advertising is targeted to a specific user of a user console. A product data request is received from a user console and includes a user identifier, user data, and at least a first product identifier. A user account record associated with the user identifier is identified. The user account record includes a subscription service level identifier and a user account history. The user data are then associated with the user account record. A product catalog is searched for any product related entries associated with the request, and when any product related entries associated with the product data request are found, each such product related entry is provided to the user console.

  • Publication number: 20070005504
Abstract: Various techniques are described for managing license rights for a variety of digital content. One technique involves initiating a request for a specific content package. The content package includes a unique content package identifier that can be linked with a license offer that also has a unique identifier. A determination is made as to whether the specific content package is available locally, and if not, the specific content package is downloaded. A use license can be obtained for digital content contained within the specific content package. One or more use-license parameters can be determined based on the use license obtained for the digital content. Finally, use of the digital content is enabled in accord with the license parameters that were thus determined.

  • Publication number: 20060224469
Abstract: In-line secondary transaction is described. In an embodiment, an on-line shopping interface is displayed via which an item can be selected for purchase. When a selection is received to initiate a purchase of the item, a determination is made that a secondary transaction is needed to complete the purchase of the item. An in-line secondary transaction user interface is displayed over a portion of the on-line shopping interface to facilitate the secondary transaction where the in-line secondary transaction user interface is displayed to maintain a context of the purchase on the on-line shopping interface. An input of transaction information is received via the in-line secondary transaction user interface to complete the secondary transaction such that the purchase of the item can be completed via the on-line shopping interface.
