  • Publication number: 20060154354
Abstract: The present invention provides a vaccine production strain of Bordetella bronchiseptica that produces a pertussis toxin in high yield. The present invention provides a method for creating a Bordetella bronchiseptica cell line which produces a Bordetella pertussis toxin comprising the steps of introducing a plasmid containing a DNA encoding antibiotic resistance into a Bordetella bronchiseptica strain, selecting for isolates in which the DNA encoding antibiotic resistance is recombinantly incorporated into the chromosome in place of the Bordetella bronchiseptica toxin gene, introducing a plasmid containing DNA encoding subunits of the Bordetella pertussis toxins into the Bordetella bronchiseptica isolates; and, selecting for isolates in which DNA encoding Bordetella pertussis toxin subunit is recombinantly incorporated into the chromosome, the resulting cells producing the Bordetella pertussis toxin.

  • Patent number: 6770017
Abstract: A weight training machine includes a main frame, a lever carriage mechanism, an adjustment linkage and a stop mechanism. A lever carriage mechanism is pivotally connected to the main frame. The lever carriage mechanism includes a weight carrying portion adapted to carry at least one weight. An input mechanism is connected to the lever carriage mechanism. The adjustment linkage is connected between the lever carriage mechanism and the main frame and is configured to selectively adjust an arc of rotation of the weight carrying portion of the lever carriage mechanism about the main frame such that the weight carrying portion may selectively traverse each of a plurality of predefined strength curves in response to movement of the input mechanism by a user.

  • Patent number: 6422791
Abstract: An attachment extends between an outer sleeve and an inner riser pipe where the pipe penetrates the keel of a platform. In one version, the attachment is a conically-shaped with a small diameter ring that engages the riser pipe and a large diameter ring that engages the outer sleeve. This attachment has elements that are very flexible in bending but relatively stiff and strong in axial load. Other versions include flat rings where lateral load is taken directly into tension and compression in the beams, allowing for relatively high lateral load transfer. Both the conically-shaped attachment and the flat ring have a number of variations that provide low bending stiffness but high axial stiffness of the elements. Depending on whether resistance to axial loads, lateral loads, or resistance to combination of both loads is desired, the attachment and the flat ring may be used alone or in combination.

  • Patent number: 6260624
Abstract: An internal tieback connector for connecting a riser from a platform to a subsea wellhead having internal grooves and a casing hanger therein. The connector has an inner body which carries a lower housing adapted to land on the wellhead. A plurality of dogs abut the lower housing and are adapted to engage and lift the inner body relative to the lower housing. An upper housing is carried on the inner body and adapted to force the dogs inward into engagement with the inner body. A plurality of latch members are carried on the inner body and are adapted to engage the internal grooves when the internal is moved upward relative to the lower housing.

  • Patent number: 6223471
Abstract: A repair kit for a sliding glass patio door having worn original wheel assemblies includes an edge bracket with an associated edge wheel for installation on a leading edge of the door and a side bracket with an associated side wheel for installation on a side of the door near a trailing edge. The edge wheel and the side wheel support the weight of the door, while the worn original wheel assemblies are left in place for guiding the door. An original track for the door provides a guideway on which the door and the original wheel assemblies travel. The edge bracket includes an edge plate that can be fastened to the leading edge, and a frame is attached to the edge plate. An axle is mounted in the frame, and the edge wheel is mounted on the axle. The side bracket has a side plate and a frame. The frame has legs mounted parallel to the side plate for holding an axle perpendicular to the side plate. The side wheel is mounted on the axle located within the frame on the side plate.
