  • Publication number: 20050004604
Abstract: An artificial larynx processes a microphone's output coherently with the stimulus used to excite the vocal cavities. The use of coherent processing, implemented with a matched filter or a comb filter, allows complete removal of all of the stimulus from the recovered audio for a much cleaner reproduction. The coherent processing is preferably carried out in a digital signal processor (DSP) interfaced to an audio analog-to-digital (A/D) converter and other circuitry, including digital-to-analog converters (DACs). A microphone feeds the A/D, while the DACs feed amplifiers driving loudspeakers.
