  • Patent number: 9180533
Abstract: A cutting insert with a serrated topography includes a top surface terminating in a circular cutting edge, a bottom surface and a frusto-conical sidewall interconnecting the top surface and the bottom surface, and a plurality of serrations on the top surface uniformly disposed around the circular cutting edge and extending radially inward from the cutting edge in such a way that a bisector through each serration passes through a central axis of the cutting insert. The plurality of serrations are positioned in a cutting tool in such a way so as to reduce regenerative chatter during a cutting operation. A method of reducing generative chatter by positioning the cutting inserts in a particular fashion in a cutting tool is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8858126
Abstract: A cutting tool includes a body having a forward end and a rearward end. The forward end includes an insert-receiving pocket with a threaded hole having a center axis. The cutting tool further includes a cutting insert with a countersunk bore with a center axis. The cutting tool includes an error proofing feature for preventing the cutting insert to be properly mounted in an insert-receiving pocket when an offset distance between the center axis of the threaded hole of the insert-receiving pocket and the center axis of the countersunk bore of the cutting insert is greater than a predetermined percentage of the outer diameter of the threaded screw.

  • Patent number: 8827610
Abstract: A hydraulic coupling system includes an adapter, a shell mill, a threaded member, and a chucking membrane. The adapter includes a tapered pilot disposed on and extending from an end face. The shell mill includes a central counter bore for enabling the pilot of the adapter to be inserted therein. The threaded member includes at least one sealing member and is capable of being threaded into a threaded bore of the shell mill. The chucking membrane includes an intermediate portion disposed between two flanges and forms a fluid-tight channel for hydraulic fluid. The chucking member has a tapered inside surface. When the threaded member is threaded into the shell mill, the tapered surfaces of the pilot and the chucking membrane cause an axial force to seat the end face of the shell mill firmly against the end face of the adapter.

  • Patent number: 8727673
Abstract: A metalcutting insert that is useful in chipforming and material removal from a workpiece. The metalcutting insert includes a metalcutting insert body, which includes a cutting edge having at least one discrete cutting location. The metalcutting insert body further contains a distinct interior coolant passage communicating with the discrete cutting location. The distinct interior coolant passage has a coolant passage inlet defining a coolant passage inlet cross-sectional area, a coolant passage discharge defining a coolant passage discharge cross-sectional area, and an axial coolant passage length. The distinct interior coolant passage defines a coolant flow cross-sectional area along the axial coolant passage length thereof. The metalcutting insert further includes a plurality of surface features for enhancing coolant flow to the cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 8701929
Abstract: The improved portable gas can includes adjustable legs along a bottom surface, which aid in stabilizing the gas can on a floor of a vehicle while in transit. The gas can includes an extension leg that is also located on the bottom surface, and which is able to secure the gas can by engaging between the truck bed surface and the tail gate. The extension leg is comprises of a lateral member and a second member pivotably engaged thereto. The second member of the extension leg is configured to extends and engage in between the truck bed and tail gate of a truck thereby securing the gas can in place while in transit. • Publication number: 20140096415
Abstract: A footwear system with a swiveling heel operable to facilitate access for adorning footwear. The heel swivels or detaches to allow facilitated access to an interior portion of the footwear. The heel joins with a body of the footwear at a hinge. The hinge allows the heel and the body to rotate or swivel relative to each other about a fixed axis of rotation. The heel rotates around the hinge in a substantially horizontal direction. The heel swivels away from the body to form an open position, and then secures back to the body to form a closed position. Fasteners secure the rotating free end of the heel to the body portion. A pad portion at least partially covers the fasteners and the hinge to provide comfort while adorning the footwear. Straps extend from the heel to join with the fasteners on the body portion.

  • Patent number: 8573903
Abstract: A round cutting insert with an anti-rotation feature. The round cutting insert includes a plurality of projections formed on a first surface and another plurality of projections formed on an opposing surface. The round cutting insert is reversible and indexable. The round cutting insert is removably received in an insert receiving pocket in a tool body wherein the insert receiving pocket includes a plurality of dimples for receiving one of the plurality of first projections or the plurality of second projections. This arrangement prevents rotation of the round cutting insert while mounted in the insert receiving pocket.
