  • Patent number: 5632061
Abstract: An assist strap including an elongated handle-shaped body having opposite ends with inwardly projecting locking flanges formed on a tapered locking member. The locking flange is spaced from an opposed support surface a distance to compressibly engage the vehicle's sheet metal roof and surrounding headliner material. The tapered locking member includes a spring mounted on a side of the locking member opposite the locking flange for urging the flange into continued contact with the supporting sheet metal thereby holding the assist strap in secure engagement within an aperture formed in the vehicle sheet metal structure.

  • Patent number: 5529367
Abstract: A visor body is mounted to a pivot rod which in turn is mounted to a slide assembly positioned above a vehicle headliner. The headliner includes an opening at its forward end adjacent the windshield for concealably receiving the visor body and a longitudinally extending slot through which the pivot rod extends when the visor is moved to a lowered use position and rotated to a side window position. The slide assembly permits the visor body to be moved forwardly and rearwardly in either the front window or side window positions for providing selective sun blocking coverage.

  • Patent number: 5484186
Abstract: An electrical system for vehicle panels is disclosed which includes a plurality of conductors and electrical accessories for connection to the panel. The electrical accessories include insulation displacement contacts for connection with conductors in the panel. In one embodiment, the panel includes a plurality of conductive layers providing an electrical bus for the panel. In another embodiment, the conductors are formed in the panel between two dielectric layers.

  • Patent number: 5211439
Abstract: A curvilinear visor panel is coupled to a mounting member by a pair of spaced guide members which extend through angled slots formed in one of the visor panels or mounting members such that the visor panel is extended for use by withdrawing the panel with the guide members moving along the slot for controlled movement of the visor. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, each of the guide members include a thrust washer and a lubricious floating slide member which provide a controlled engaging force between the visor panel and mounting member. In a preferred embodiment of the invention also, the guide member includes a cap with a collar extending though the angled slots with the caps engaging the slots on a side opposite the slide members.

  • Patent number: 4686609
Abstract: An interior light for a vehicle includes a lamp housing for attachment to a vehicle with a lamp positioned within the housing. A cover panel is coupled to the housing, and a light control panel is slidably mounted between the housing and cover panel. The light control panel includes at least a pair of spaced sections which can be selectively aligned with the lamp, with each of the sections uniquely controlling light from the lamp to provide a selectable lighting effect by movement of the light control panel.
