  • Publication number: 20070106525
Abstract: A sparse data system is provided for verifying operational compliance of a plurality of wastewater treatment systems. To reduce operational costs to a minimum, the quantity of data transmitted is minimized and the data is only transmitted at certain times. If systems are compliant, then information is preferably not sent. If systems are non-compliant, then notices are sent to parties of interest at effectively the same time as the noncompliance occurs. Subsequent alarm detection level may also be set to provide notice for severe noncompliance.

Subsequent alarm detection level may also be sent after detection of an operational threshold to provide notice for continued ongoing or severe noncompliance.

  • Publication number: 20060290487
Abstract: A system is provided for verifying operation of a plurality of alarm systems in a plurality of environmental equipment systems that comprises a plurality of first communication nodes and a plurality of second communication nodes. Each second communication node is typically mounted within a yard to about six hundred yards from respective first communication nodes. The first communication nodes send a first verification signal, e.g., a heartbeat signal to verify the alarm systems to the second communication nodes at first predetermined intervals. The plurality of second communication nodes detect when the first verification signal is not received at the first predetermined intervals. The second communication nodes then determine whether to send a malfunction notification to a server base on predetermined criteria. The second communication nodes may send a second heartbeat signal to the server at other predetermined intervals.

  • Publication number: 20050274656
Abstract: A system for the chemical treatment of wastewater may be discharged in a night spray system, an on demand system or a dosing system. Tank 12 receives wastewater, and a discharge pump 16 pumps wastewater from the tank in the night spray system. A sensor 24 deactivates the discharge pump when the wastewater level reaches a predetermined low level, and in some applications activates the discharge pump when the wastewater level reaches a predetermined high level. A liquid disinfectant pump 38 pumps liquid disinfectant to the tank, and a controller 30 activates a liquid disinfectant pump for a selected time interval as a function of the discharge system.

  • Publication number: 20050021359
Abstract: The present invention provides an electronic system and method that permits a responsible parties to determine whether services such as maintenance and repairs have been timely made on environmental equipment installations, such as homeowner wastewater treatment plants, to comply with regulatory requirements. The environmental equipment installations may be installed at different locations, operating on different inspection schedules, with different service companies, different owners, of different types, and be of different processing capacity. A personnel detector is preferably utilized to verify the actual physical presence of service personnel. In a preferred embodiment, the system provides a scheduler for service companies whereby information regarding service schedules and required repairs is available online. The scheduler is operable for generating service routes based on present requirements and/or for providing maps to locations for service personnel.

  • Patent number: 5785854
Abstract: A defined current and aeration system for the aeration chamber of an aerobic wastewater treatment plant is disclosed. It includes the release of oxygenation gas or air into the aeration chamber through a diffuser or the like at a position such that the air injected into the tank provides the necessary amount of oxygen for aerobic bacterial digestion of the waste while creating a current or circulation pattern in the chamber that forces every portion of the fluid within the aeration chamber into circulation thus preventing the accumulation of solids as sludge in the wastewater treatment plant.

  • Patent number: 5770081
Abstract: Apparatus for and a method of reducing solids and controlling surges in the flow of effluent from the clarifier chamber of an aerobic wastewater treatment plant. The apparatus is mounted inside the clarifier chamber of the wastewater treatment plant and connected to an outlet pipe of the plant. The apparatus includes a cylindrical tubular weir positioned in a cylindrical housing connected to the outlet pipe of the clarifier. The surge control weir assembly restricts the flow of the effluent from the clarifier resulting in an accumulation of effluent in the surge control weir assembly from which it flows at a rate proportioned to the volume retained in the assembly and resulting in a settling of minute suspended solids in the clarifier chamber. The surge control weir provides a final screening of the effluent through aerobic bacteria which grow in the slots of the assembly to digest the last solid particles from the water as the water slowly passes through the assembly.
