  • Patent number: 4476803
Abstract: An apparatus for indicating tire pressure is disclosed which indicates whether the tire pressure in a pair of pneumatic tires is low, normal or excessive. The apparatus includes a valve body which is operatively connected to each of the tires and comprises a valve which longitudinally moves in the apparatus responsive to air pressure. The valve is operatively connected to a scale pan having an arcuate display portion at one end thereof. The display portion on the scale pan includes colored rectangular segments which are visible through a sight window in the apparatus. The scale pan pivots in response to valve movement and the colored segment visible in the sight window indicates whether the tire pressure is low, normal or excessive.

  • Patent number: 4465013
Abstract: A tire monitor for use with a pair of pneumatic tires comprising a body member having a diaphragm valve mounted in a first chamber formed therein defining first and second chamber portions. A spring is provided in the first chamber portion for yieldably urging the diaphragm valve towards one end of the body member. A valve cap is secured to the other end of the body member and has first, second and third air passageways formed therein. A valve is connected to the third passageway for permitting air under pressure to be supplied to the second chamber portion at times. The diaphragm valve prevents communication between the first and second air passageways when the diaphragm valve is in a first position and also prevents communication between the third passageway and the first and second air passageways when the diaphragm valve is in its first position.

  • Patent number: 4375788
Abstract: A pressure equalizing valve for pneumatic tires including a visual display is described which is ideally suited for use with dual tires. A cylindrical housing accommodates a spring biased diaphragm mounted in a first chamber. The diaphragm carries a valve member thereon and acts as a sealing member or element to close two air passageways which are in communication with the dual tires in a conventional dual tire installation. The valve member closes the air passageways when a pre-adjusted and calibrated value of air pressure is lost by the dual tires involved. Changes in the air pressures acting on the spring biased diaphragm are communicated to a diaphragm follower on the atmospheric side of the diaphragm. A visual display is operated with the diaphragm follower and responds at an eight to one ratio to the movement of the diaphragm and follower when air pressure changes occur and a resultant movement of the diaphragm and follower occurs.

  • Patent number: 4115201
Abstract: An apparatus for removing impurities from lubricating oil comprising a container having a filter positioned in the lower end thereof with an evaporator plate positioned above the filter. The lubricating oil enters the container through an inlet opening formed in the lower end thereof with the oil being passed upwardly through the filter. The oil is dispersed or redistributed at the lower end of the evaporator plate so that the oil is moved to the center thereof and moved upwardly through a central opening. The evaporator plate has a plurality of annular concentric tiers provided on its upper end so that the oil passing through the upper end of the central opening in the evaporator plate flows downwardly and outwardly over the concentric tiers. A ring-shaped heating element is positioned in the container and extends around the upper end of the evaporator plate at the periphery thereof for heating the oil passing downwardly over the concentric tiers.

  • Patent number: 4108134
Abstract: A modulator valve assembly comprising a valve body having a first compartment area at one end thereof and an elongated bore extending therethrough from the inner end of the first compartment area. The first compartment area is closed by an inlet cap which is in operative communication with a source of fluid under pressure. A piston is slidably mounted in the bore and is provided with a pair of spaced-apart metering slots formed in the periphery thereof which extend between one end thereof and a reduced diameter portion. The valve body is provided with a discharge port formed therein which communicates with the bore intermediate the ends thereof. A spring is mounted in the bore to yieldably urge the piston towards the inlet cap so that the metering slots permit fluid to pass from the first compartment area to the discharge port. Means is provided in the port to limit the movement of the piston in one direction.

  • Patent number: 3990470
Abstract: A means for controlling fluid flow including a housing having an input port adapted to be connected to a source of fluid under pressure and also havng an output port adapted to be connected to an apparatus requiring controlled fluid flow or pressure. The housing has a ring-shaped passgeway or orifice provided therein between the input and output ports and is in communicaton therewith. A valve spool is movably mounted in the housing and has an O-ring mounted thereon which is adapted to selectively close the passageway at times when the valve spool is moved in one direction with respect to the housing. One end of a stem is secured to the valve spool and extends therefrom through a seal means provided in the housing. The housing has an adjustable spring loaded diaphragm assembly positioned therein which is operatively connected to the other end of the stem. A spring means normally urges the valve spool in said one direction with the diaphragm spring means normally urging the valve spool in an opposite direction.
