    Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus and methods for studying intracellular rheology. The invention further relates to use of such apparatus and methods to screen for potentially therapeutic molecules that give rise to rheological effects within a cell. As one example, the disclosed ballistic intracellular nanorheology (BIN) apparatus and methods may be employed in a high-throughput screen to identify mediators or inhibitors of the cytoskeletal modifications involved in cancer metastasis.
