  • Patent number: 8103275
Abstract: A system and method for identifying a wireless serving node for a mobile unit include the ability to receive a wireless registration request at a control node for a wireless serving node cluster and determine a control node associated with the registration request by using an algorithm on a mobile unit identifier in the registration request. The system and method also include the ability to generate a wireless registration response containing an identifier for the control node associated with the registration request if the control node is not the control node associated with the registration request.

  • Patent number: 7433688
Abstract: A system and method for upgrading service class of a connection in a wireless network includes identifying a congested CoS in a sector of a wireless network. Bandwidth availability in the sector is determined at an enhanced CoS in relation to the congested CoS. A communications session is selected in the congested CoS for upgrading. The communications session is upgraded to the enhanced CoS.

  • Patent number: 7191231
Abstract: A method for consistent forwarding of data is provided. The method includes storing a plurality of correlations between a set of wireline communication priority levels and a set of wireless communication priority levels. The method further includes receiving data from an application via a wireline communications network. The data is received according to a wireline communication priority level assigned to the data from the set of wireline communication priority levels. The method further includes determining from the set of wireless communication priority levels a wireless communication priority level for the data based at least in part on the wireline communication priority level associated with the data and one or more of the plurality of correlations. The method further includes transmitting the data to a mobile station according to the wireless communication priority level determined for the data.

  • Patent number: 7127249
Abstract: A system and method for selecting a wireless serving node include the capability to receive a wireless registration request at a wireless serving node and to determine whether the serving node is managing a wireless session associated with the registration request. The system and method also include the capability to generate a wireless session inquiry if the serving node is not managing a wireless session associated with the registration request, to receive a wireless session response containing a serving node identifier, and to generate a wireless registration response containing the serving node identifier.

  • Patent number: 5627971
Abstract: The eligibility of all bidirectional links interconnecting a plurality of nodes in a network is determined based on the free bandwidths in both directions of the links and the bandwidth required for transmitting messages between a source node and a destination node in the network. The determination is exercised as to both ends of a link. Then, the link is determined whether or not it is eligible to become part of the shortest route. The determined eligibility of the links may provide a rapid shortest route selection, which will be executed later, because the route selection steps are not executed for ineligible links.
