  • Patent number: 4176693
Abstract: An apparatus has means for containing a level of flowable hardenable material therein, and means is selectively operable for carrying a predetermined amount of the hardenable material from the level thereof in the containing means to a preselected position beyond the level of the remaining hardenable material in the containing means. Means is associated with the carrying means in its preselected position for extracting therefrom another amount of the hardenable material predeterminately less than the predetermined amount.A method of operating the apparatus is also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 6, 1978
Date of Patent: December 4, 1979
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Jesse A. Stoner, Robert L. Mills
  • Patent number: 4096905
Abstract: Method for casting a metal. In this method, means is provided for casting the metal melted therein. Means for dispensing the metal to the casting means includes means for receiving a predetermined amount of the metal in its solid state, means for the passage of the metal from the receiving means, and means associated with the receiving means and operable generally for depositing the metal through the passage means into the casting means. Means is also provided for moving the casting means to a metal casting position when the metal therein is melted.

  • Patent number: 4087903
Abstract: A method of attaching a pair of opposite end frames of a dynamoelectric machine to a structural component thereof predeterminately positioned with the end frames for assembly within receiving means respectively provided in the end frames. Molten metal is introduced into the receiving means of one of the end frames for solidifying and forming a rigid tie between the one end frame and the structural component in their respective predetermined positions, and the end frame and structural component are simultaneously inverted upon the solidification of the molten metal for disposing the receiving means of the other of the end frames in position for introducing molten metal thereinto.Other methods of attaching components of a dynamoelectric machine are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4004725
Abstract: Apparatus for assembling a pair of opposite end frames of a dynamoelectric machine to a structural component thereof disposed within means respectively in the end frames for receiving the structural component. The apparatus has means for moving at least one of the structural component and the end frames to an assembly position with the structural component disposed in the receiving means of the end frames and for supporting the structural component and the end frames in the assembly position. Means is utilized for providing a hardenable material in the receiving means adapted to be flowed therein so as to form a rigid tie between the end frames and the structural component upon the hardening of the hardenable material in the receiving means, respectively, with the structural components and the end frames being supported in the assembly position thereof by the moving and supporting means.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 3988939
Abstract: A method of converting non-harmonic acceleration of linear reciprocal motion into generally sinusoidal acceleration. In this method, non-harmonic acceleration of the linear reciprocal motion of a driving means is transformed into complementary rotary motion, and the complementary rotary motion is translated into generally sinusoidal accelerations by conjointly moving an articulated means and drivingly interconnecting it with a linear reciprocating driven means.Apparatus for converting non-harmonic acceleration for linear reciprocal motion into generally sinusoidal acceleration is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 3979032
Abstract: Melting and casting apparatus wherein a metal pellet is transferred from a receptacle into a casting ladle. Thereafter, the casting ladle is moved into a RF heater where the pellet is melted. The casting ladle containing the molten metal is then moved by a suttle and guide arrangement to a pouring position where the casting ladle is tipped by a linkage assemble to pour the metal.

  • Patent number: 3974873
Abstract: A method of attaching an end frame and another structural component of a dynamoelectric machine wherein the structural component is positioned within a receiving means therefor in the end frame. At least one of the end frame and structural component is moved relative to the other thereof to an aligned position for assembly with each other, and metal is cast into the receiving means for forming a rigid tie between the end frame and the structural component for maintaining them in their aligned assembly position. Apparatus for rigidly interconnecting an end frame with another structural component of a dynamoelectric machine is also disclosed.
