Patent number: 6892864Abstract: A temperature compensation method for controlling a damping force of a magnetorheological (MR) damper is disclosed. First, a base operating current as a function of a desired force level of a damping force of the MR damper is determined, and a temperature compensation as a function of an operating temperature of the MR damper is determined. Finally, the temperature compensation is applied to the base operating current to generate a compensated operating current as a function of the desired force level of the damping force and the operating temperature of the MR damper. To refine the compensated operating current, the temperature compensation can be determined as both a function of the operating temperature of the MR damper and a relative velocity of the MR damper.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2001Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Vardarajan R. Iyengar, Bruce A. Heaston, John F. Hoying, David A. Shal, Darin D. Dellinger, Khaled M. Jundi, Jesse D. Jones, Timothy J. Juuhl, Robin Oakley, David J. Barta, Michael R. Lukuc

Patent number: 4551485Abstract: The impact strength of thermoplastic poly(ethylene terephthalate) molding compositions containing a reinforcing filler (preferably glass fiber), an epoxidized crystallization promoter (e.g., an epoxidized vegetable oil) and a nucleating agent (e.g., sodium stearate) is markedly improved by including in the composition a small amount of an organofunctional silane, i.e., a compound characterized by having a functional substituent at the end of a methylene chain bound to a silicon atom to which are also bonded a plurality of readily hydrolyzable groups. A few such compounds are gamma-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, gamma-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane, gamma-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and gamma-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane. The formulations may also contain a warp-reducing filler such as mica. Organofunctional silanes typically have application in thermoplastic polymers only as coupling agents, i.e.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1984Date of Patent: November 5, 1985Assignee: Ethyl CorporationInventors: Gary S.
