  • Publication number: 20150158542
Abstract: A vehicle, in particular a motorcycle, has an integrated transmission/engine assembly suspended from a cantilever frame. The frame accommodates a V-Twin motorcycle engine that is disposed over the crank case and transmission housings. The frame has a central vertical post member with a portion that extends forward from central post. The forward extending portion of the frame is disposed over the cylinders and rocker boxes and the engine is mounted to this portion of the frame at the rocker boxes. The frame allows a greater variety of arrangements of the engine, transmission and drive components than does a traditional cradle or cage frame for enhanced performance and styling.

  • Patent number: 7975799
Abstract: An apparatus and method for storing and supplying a fluid for use by a motorcycle engine includes a fluid tank assembly that can be mounted so that at least a portion of it is integral with a motorcycle frame. The assembly includes a center block that is mounted within a cavity in the motorcycle frame and two fluid reservoir housings, each mounted on opposite sides of the frame exterior and adjacent to the center block. The center block includes a hole of sufficient diameter that reservoir chambers, defined by the two reservoir housings, are in a free-flowing, fluid communication with one another via the center block hole. Moreover, the center block is a structural element thereby providing strength to the motorcycle frame.

  • Publication number: 20090026729
Abstract: A foot board assembly includes an upper plate and a lower plate forming a box-like structure that has greater strength, yet is relatively light in weight. A plurality of openings extends through the upper and lower plates and provides an aesthetically-pleasing appearance. A band is attached to the outer edges of the upper and lower plates. This provides structural strength and forms an outer wall with a plurality of upward-extending teeth thereby allowing for safety and grip for an operator's foot.

  • Patent number: 7287772
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for securing and positioning an axle relative to a cycle frame are provided. An adjustor block is placed in a cavity of the cycle frame. The block can slide longitudinally within the frame cavity. An axle bolt is inserted into the cavity and seated against a bearing surface of the adjustor block for engagement with the adjustor block. The axle bolt is threadedly engaged with the axle, thereby coupling the axle to the adjustor block. An adjustor bolt is inserted into a bore in the cycle frame and used to move the adjustor block longitudinally within the frame cavity, which in turn moves the axle longitudinally relative to the frame. The frame and axle assembly are both functional and aesthetically pleasing without the use of axle covers.

  • Patent number: 7252419
Abstract: An adjustable motorcycle headlight with multiple degrees of freedom enables the rider to aim the light where it is needed, as well as facilitating the factory assembly process by enabling fine adjustment after the headlight is mounted. The motorcycle headlight is attached to the frame via a ball and socket structure cooperatively coupled to at least one positioning arm provided in tandem with the ball and socket structure for accommodating and stabilizing the movement of the ball and socket joint and locking same in position. The positioning arm includes a series of straight segments rotatably attached to one another via adjusters which can be loosened to enable adjustment, and tightened to affix the positioning arm into place. The combination of the ball and socket joint with a pair of positioning arms also provides a stable, robust three-point attachment mount for the headlight.

  • Patent number: 7028818
Abstract: A motorcycle including a front wheel, a rear wheel, a frame, a seat and handlebars is disclosed. The motorcycle includes a linkage connecting a brake pedal with a caliper. The caliper is located within a body perimeter of the motorcycle. The caliper is adapted to engage a disk and the caliper can have a line of action. The direction of the line of action of the caliper can be different than the axis of rotation of the rear wheel. The linkage can also convert vertical motion into horizontal motion.
