  • Patent number: 11162318
Abstract: A tool catcher system that includes a housing. The housing defines a bore that receives a tool. The tool catcher system includes a plurality of ring segments that move radially inward and radially outward to selectively couple to and uncouple from the tool. A spring plate supports the plurality of ring segments. An actuator plate couples to the spring plate. A plurality of shafts couple the actuator plate to the spring plate. An actuator system moves the actuator plate and the spring plate in a first direction to release the tool.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 12, 2019
Date of Patent: November 2, 2021
    Assignee: Schlumberger Technology Corporation
Inventors: Ian McDaniel, Jesse Garcia, Jeffrey Lambert, Nathaniel Pettibone, Ross Stevenson, Kody Carrillo
  • Patent number: 10968715
Abstract: An actuation assembly to actuate a component of a mineral extraction system, where the actuation assembly includes an actuator configured to generate a force in a direction, a lever assembly coupled to the actuator, where the lever assembly is configured to rotate about a fulcrum in response to application of the force, and a piston coupled to the lever assembly, where the piston is configured to move in the direction in response to rotation of the lever assembly about the fulcrum.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20190383113
Abstract: A linkage assembly for a tool trap of a wireline pressure control equipment (PCE) stack includes a first linkage member and a keyed shaft positioned within an opening of the first linkage member. The first linkage member and the keyed shaft are configured to rotate together to transfer a force generated by an actuator to adjust a plate of the tool trap from a closed position to an open position. One or more gaps exist within the opening between the first linkage member and the keyed shaft to enable relative motion between the first linkage member and the keyed shaft to enable the tool to drive the plate from the closed position to the open position without back driving the actuator during withdrawal of the tool across the tool trap.

  • Patent number: 9919771
Abstract: A system and method for guiding a dropped suspended load includes a safety winch, safety buoy, and safety anchor spaced relative to one another and an offshore rig's lifting system so that the dropped load falls away from certain seabed locations and to a safe landing area. A safety winch cable runs from the safety winch to the safety buoy, and from the safety buoy to a connection to the load. The load, when in a run-away state, falls away from vertical and toward a predetermined safe landing spot on the seabed floor. The safety buoy is then used to locate the load.
