In a second region of the folded substrate separate from that occupied by the detergent composition, there is a further composition, adhesive in nature, containing a component which may be a bleach, bleach precursor, enzyme and/or fabric softener. The compositions between the substrate areas are easily released to the wash water when the article is placed therein.

The detergent composition includes an alkyl polyglycoside and a detergency builder, the weight ratio of the total amount of surfactant to total amount of builder is at least 1:1. Especially useful are the polycarboxylate polymeric builders. Polyoxyethylene/polyoxypropylene copolymer may be used as a surfactant in conjunction with the alkyl polyglycoside.
