  • Publication number: 20240341931
Abstract: A support is coupled to an appliance to decrease warpage. The support may comprise a plurality of extensions coupled to the appliance to decrease warpage. The extensions can be coupled to the appliance at one or more of many locations, such as on an occlusal surface, a wall, an edge or an interior of the appliance. In some embodiments, the extensions are coupled to walls of the appliance such as a buccal wall and a lingual wall, and the extensions can be coupled to the walls of the appliance near edges of the walls, such as a gingivally facing edges of the walls that are oriented toward the gingiva when the appliance is worn.

  • Publication number: 20240335258
Abstract: Methods and systems for dental treatment are provided. In some embodiments, a method includes receiving a plurality of treatment stages for repositioning a patient's teeth from an initial tooth arrangement toward a target tooth arrangement, where each treatment stage is associated with a target position for a tooth of the patient. The method can include determining, for one or more treatment stages, an overcorrected movement corresponding to an overcorrected position for the tooth that is different from the target position, where at least some of the one or more treatment stages include different magnitudes of overcorrected movements. The method can further include outputting fabrication instructions for one or more dental appliances corresponding to the one or more treatment stages, each dental appliance including an overcorrected tooth receiving cavity corresponding to the overcorrected position for the respective treatment stage.

  • Patent number: 12048606
Abstract: Orthodontic systems and related methods are disclosed for designing and providing improved or more effective tooth moving systems for eliciting a desired tooth movement and/or repositioning teeth into a desired arrangement. Methods and orthodontic systems include the generation of an overcorrection in the tooth-receiving cavities of an appliance worn in the dentition. The overcorrection may provide an improved and more accurately applied force or moment applied to a tooth. The overcorrected force or moment can move a tooth closer to a desired position than if not overcorrected as sufficient force can still applied to the tooth as it gets closer to the desired position. The overcorrected force or moment may also better target the root of the tooth where the biological response to tooth movement occurs. The overcorrection may be calculated in various ways as described herein.

  • Publication number: 20220313393
Abstract: Dental appliances having modified gingival edge profiles for optimizing orthodontic tooth movement. In some cases, at least a portion of the gingival edge is lengthened to extend past the gumline of the patient, thereby directing forces closer to a center of resistance of one or more teeth. In some cases, at least a portion of the gingival edge is shortened with respect to the gumline of the patient, thereby directing forces farther from a center of resistance of one or more teeth. The change in the force system of the dental appliance due to the gingival edge modification can be tailored and tuned for specific tooth movements.
