Publication number: 20260009350Abstract: A piston system for a compression engine that detonates fuel during an appropriate part of the cycle includes a piston and a connecting rod that connects the piston to a crankshaft via a cam on crankshaft. The cam on the crankshaft provides an offset such that the orbit of the cam during each stroke cycle is different than the orbit of the crankshaft. The connecting rod is connected to the cam such that the orbit of the cam is larger than the orbit of the cam. In this way, for each stroke cycle, the crankshaft is always past the top of its orbit when the piston is at top dead center.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2025Publication date: January 8, 2026Inventor: Jesse Reed

Patent number: 12372026Abstract: A piston system for a compression engine that detonates fuel during an appropriate part of the cycle includes a main piston and an inner piston that is within the main piston, and the head of the inner piston is preferably substantially smaller than the head of the main piston. In operation, the inner piston's path through the cylinder is offset by a predetermined amount with respect to the main piston's path through the cylinder such that at the point when the main piston is just past the zenith, the head of the inner piston becomes flush with the head of the main piston. This motion of the inner piston ensures that fuel will detonate when the main piston is just path the zenith, avoiding damage from untimely detonations. The ratio of the area of the main piston to the inner piston determines the timing of the detonation.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2024Date of Patent: July 29, 2025Inventor: Jesse Reed

Patent number: 12313385Abstract: A crimping die assembly for crimping a cartridge is provided that includes a casing and a bullet seated in the casing. The crimping die assembly includes a die body with a longitudinal axis, an elongated cavity disposed along the longitudinal axis, a cartridge receiver opening for receiving the cartridge, disposed at a first end of the die body, and opening into to the elongated cavity, a crimping bushing for crimping the casing onto the bullet, disposed within the elongated cavity and translatable therein along the longitudinal axis, and a compliant member disposed at least partially within the elongated cavity for urging the crimping bushing toward the cartridge receiver opening.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2024Date of Patent: May 27, 2025Inventor: Jesse Reed

Patent number: 11713950Abstract: A system for improving the accuracy of the seating of primers in primer pockets of shell casings while avoiding damaging the end of the shell casing is provided. A stop mechanism that directly engages the bottom of the shell is included such that, as the primer is inserted into the primer pocket, more accurate seating depth is ensured. In addition, the seating depth may be adjusted in order to compensate for changes over time, which may be due to changes in materials or wear. Further, components that interact with the end of the shell casing and rod have increased thickness to add strength and provide more surface area relative to the base of the shell casing, thus reducing the chance that the base of the shell casing is bent and allowing for a precise stopping position during priming.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2022Date of Patent: August 1, 2023Inventor: Jesse Reed
