  • Patent number: 10149792
Abstract: A surgical assembly (20) comprises a post (100) having a longitudinally extending axis (104), a support (56) for resisting movement of the post in a negative longitudinal direction, and a platform (70) offset from the support in a positive longitudinal direction. The platform includes an opening (82) through which the post projects. The opening includes a throat (86). The post has a first dimension which renders the post incapable of passing through the throat and a second dimension which renders the post capable of passing through the throat. Alternate embodiments in which the post can be removably engaged with the support and platform and disengaged therefrom without translating the post in the longitudinal direction are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10045901
Abstract: A carriage for a limb support includes a space for receiving a longitudinal member of a patient support apparatus, a plurality of rollers configured to engage the longitudinal member and a locking mechanism. The plurality of rollers is configured to maintain alignment of the carriage during movement of the carriage along the longitudinal member. The carriage also includes an elastomeric member that resists rotation to prevent unwanted motion of the carriage. The locking mechanism is configured to secure the carriage to the longitudinal member at any of an infinite number of positions along the length of the longitudinal member, the locking mechanism being lockable with a single action.

  • Publication number: 20180185228
Abstract: A patient support device includes an alternate support top, a head support unit partially supporting the alternate support top, a foot support unit longitudinally spaced from the head support unit and an adaptor associated with the foot support unit. The adaptor is securable to the foot support unit so that the adaptor and foot support unit cooperate to partially support the alternate support top so that the alternate support top extends footwardly beyond the foot support unit. The roles of the head and foot suppport units may be reversed. A related patient support system includes a baseline set of support tops and a set of alternate support tops.

  • Publication number: 20160235610
Abstract: A person support apparatus can be adjusted to support a person in a number of different positions, including a laying-down position, a seated position, and positions intermediate the laying-down and seated positions. One or more sensors, which may be carried by, worn by or attached to the person, the person support apparatus, or another device, can be used to detect physiological responses of the person. A computing device, such as a bed controller, can generate an indication of the person's state based on one or more of the sensor inputs. The computing device can, based on the patient sate indication, cause an adjustment to the position or configuration of the person support apparatus to occur.
