  • Patent number: 4580704
Abstract: A dispenser for discharging a substance on demand. The dispenser includes a body having an opening for receiving the substance with the body being defined in part by a dispenser plate having an outlet extending therethrough. It also includes a rotatable plate biased against a dispenser surface of the dispenser plate with the rotatable plate having a surface contacting the dispenser surface and an edge confronting the substance. The contacting surface has a tapered channel leading away from the confronting edge with the channel having a maximum depth at the confronting edge and tapering to the contacting surface. The dispenser also features the outlet extending through the dispenser plate so as to lie in the path of travel of the channel during rotation of the plate. With this arrangement, a handle can be provided for rotating the plate.

  • Patent number: 4575098
Abstract: A sealing assembly for a device having a rotatable shaft. The sealing assembly includes a stationary seal in association with the device having an opening generally conforming to the rotatable shaft together with a rotatable seal adapted to engage and cooperate with the stationary seal for effecting a seal therebetween. The rotatable seal is adapted to be mounted on the rotatable shaft for rotational movement therewith and includes a collar having an opening generally conforming to the rotatable shaft. The opening in the collar is defined by a normally undersized shaft-confronting surface and the collar is split through the opening along a diameter to include a pair of substantially identical portions. The sealing assembly also includes a spacer formed of a flowable material adapted to be disposed between the substantially identical portions of the collar for sealingly conforming the collar to the rotatable shaft within a normal tolerance range for rotatable shafts.

  • Patent number: 4444402
Abstract: A high pressure sealing assembly for a device having a rotatable shaft. The assembly includes a stationary seal member associated with the device which has an opening generally conforming to the rotatable shaft, a rotatable seal member adapted to be mounted on the rotatable shaft to engage and cooperate with the stationary seal member, and a rotatable seal collar adapted to be mounted on the rotatable shaft to engage and cooperate with the rotatable seal member. With this arrangement, the rotatable seal collar cooperates with the rotatable shaft to maintain the rotatable seal member in engagement with the stationary seal member.

  • Patent number: 4427203
Abstract: A sealing assembly for a device having a rotatable shaft. The assembly includes a stationary seal member associated with the device which has an opening generally conforming to the rotatable shaft and a rotatable seal member adapted to engage and cooperate with the stationary seal member for effecting a seal therebetween, the rotatable seal member being adapted to be mounted on the rotatable shaft for rotational movement therewith. With this arrangement, the rotatable seal member is also adapted to engage and cooperate with the rotatable shaft for effecting a seal therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4423878
Abstract: A sealing assembly, kit and method for rotatable shafts. The assembly includes a stationary seal member having an insert receiving opening dimensioned larger than a rotatable shaft, an insert member having an enlargeable shaft-receiving opening adapted to be mounted in the insert-receiving opening in the stationary seal member, and a rotatable seal member adapted to be mounted on the rotatable shaft to engage and cooperate with the insert member. The kit is similarly composed of the same elements but with a plurality of each such element having differing sizes to accommodate rotatable shafts of different dimensions.

  • Patent number: 4215870
Abstract: A sealing assembly is disclosed for effecting a sealing joint between relatively rotatable elements which include a stationary element and a rotatable shaft passing through the stationary element. The sealing assembly includes a stationary seal integral with or secured to the stationary element, the stationary seal having an annular sealing surface surrounding the rotatable shaft. A rotatable seal ring surrounds the shaft and has an annular sealing surface for engaging and cooperating with the annular sealing surface of the stationary seal to establish a seal therebetween. A rotatable collar is secured to the shaft for rotation therewith, and at least one selectively adjustable spring assembly is mounted on the collar for biasing the seal ring against the stationary seal to effect the sealing joint.

  • Patent number: 4093143
Abstract: An apparatus for winding stock in coil fashion. The apparatus includes a base, a variable speed motor, a speed selection control unit, a coil guide, and clutch means. The variable speed motor is mounted on the base and operatively joined through a first gear box to a drive shaft equipped with a reel for taking up the stock. The speed selection control unit regulates the speed of the motor having monitoring means responsive to movement of the stock at a point remote from the reel. The monitoring means instantaneously signals the motor to slow in response to momentary slight increases in the speed of the stock at the remote point as the diameter of the stock on the reel builds to maintain the speed of the stock at the selected speed on the control unit. The coil guide is operatively joined through a second gear box to the first gear box for rotation and reciprocation to direct the stock onto the reel being carried on a support shaft linked to the second gear box through reciprocal camming means.
