  • Patent number: 11987791
Abstract: The present invention provides agents and compositions for modulating expression (e.g., enhanced or reduced expression) of a hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha (HNF4?) gene by targeting an HNF4? expression control region and methods of use thereof for treating an HNF4? associated disorder, e.g., cirrhosis.

  • Patent number: 11916388
Abstract: An electrical power distribution control system configured to issue a demand response signal to cut power to a plurality of electrical power consuming loads within an electrical power distribution network to reduce a peak power demand within an electrical power grid during a peak power demand. Unlike conventional demand response systems, the controller in each consumer residence includes both a distributed control based on the ability to track individual 24 hour usage patterns and selectively delay the demand response signal on individual resistive heating loads based on usage patterns for the purpose of reducing a likelihood of consumers experiencing effects of the reduced peak power demand.

  • Patent number: 7788899
Abstract: A thrust augmentation system for a mixed exhaust turbofan engine comprises an augmentation duct, a combustion system and a fixed area exhaust nozzle. The augmentation duct receives primary and secondary air of the turbofan engine and is positioned co-axially with an exhaust case of the turbofan engine. The combustion system increases the thrust produced by the mixed exhaust of the turbofan. The fixed area exhaust nozzle has a throat area larger than that which would maximize the non-augmented thrust.

  • Patent number: 7341426
Abstract: A gas turbine engine is provided that includes one or more rotor assemblies, one or more shroud segments, and an actuator. The rotor assemblies are rotatable around an axially extending rotational axis, and each rotor assembly has a plurality of blades. Each blade has a blade tip. The one or more shroud segments each has a blade seal surface disposed radially outside of the one or more rotor assemblies. The blade tips and blade seal surfaces (collectively referred to as the blade seal surface) have mating conical geometries and a clearance distance extending between the blade tips and blade seal surface. The blade tips and blade seal surface are disposed at an angle relative to the axial centerline of the engine, which angle is greater than zero. The actuator is selectively operable to axially move one or both of the shroud segments and rotor assemblies relative to the other of the shroud segments and rotor assemblies to alter the clearance distance.

  • Patent number: 5795435
Abstract: An applicator for use in conjunction with the top of a work surface, designed for multiple applications enabling a user to either separate an adhesive sheet material from its release paper for application to a substrate or apply transfer tape to a work copy. The invention is made up of a frame, two tension rods immovably affixed between to spaced-apart side members of the frame, and a support axle operably attached to said frame so as to enable said support axle to rotate. The frame is made up of two generally vertically spaced-apart side members affixed to a generally horizontal platform. Each of the side members are generally identically dimensioned, and define a slot at the top edge adapted to accept one end of the support axle whereby the support axle is free to be rotated. The support axle is adapted to frictionally hold a standard roll of commonly available transfer tape or vinyl sheet material.
