  • Patent number: 11702598
Abstract: Historically, bitumen from oil sands has been carried over land using trucks, pipelines, or by rail, and over water using tankers. Each mode of transportation faces economic or technical challenges of its own. Here there is provided a method for transporting bitumen, comprising: receiving in a dry bulk shipping container a load of discrete pellets with bitumen entrapped into the pellets, wherein the pellets have non-stick outer surfaces configured to prevent the bitumen from sticking to walls of the container when the pellets are carried in the container; and transporting the dry bulk shipping container containing the pellets over a distance. Alternatively or additionally, the pellets may have non-stick outer surfaces configured to prevent the load from caking when the pellets are carried in the container such that the load of bitumen pellets is substantially free-flowing when the transporting is completed.

  • Publication number: 20110268639
Abstract: A gas cleaning system (1) is designed for removing hydrogen fluoride from a process gas generated during the production of aluminium from alumina. The gas cleaning system (1) comprises a scrubbing chamber (8, 10, 12) for purposes of mixing the process gas with particulate alumina, and a filter device (24,26,28) which is located downstream of the scrubbing chamber (8,10,12) with respect to the direction of flow of the process gas. A sulphur dioxide measurement device (40, 42, 44, 50) is operative for measuring the amount of the concentration of sulphur dioxide that is present in the process gas downstream of the filter device (24, 26, 28). A controller (46) is operative-connected to the sulphur dioxide measurement device (40, 42, 44, 50) and is operative for utilizing the measured amount of the concentration of sulphur dioxide for purposes of evaluating the efficiency of the hydrogen fluoride removal by the gas cleaning system (1).

  • Publication number: 20070074270
Abstract: A method and system for transmission of digital content via e-mail with point of use digital rights management is disclosed. The secured access rights to the digital content may be customized for individual recipients by the sender, and may evolve over time. The access rights are enforced according to a time-dependent scheme. A key server is used to arbitrate session keys for the encrypted content, eliminating the requirement to exchange public keys prior to transmission of the digital content. During the entire process of transmitting and receiving e-mail messages and documents, the exchange of cryptographic keys remains totally transparent to the users of the system. Additionally, electronic documents may be digitally signed with authentication of the signature.
