    Abstract: A method includes receiving information indicative of a first vehicle identification number (VIN) for a first vehicle, determining that the first vehicle includes a first recalled component by comparing the first VIN to information in a recall database stored in a memory of an auditing system, receiving first image data generated by a mobile device, the first image data being reproducible as a first image of the first VIN on the first vehicle and associated with a first location of the mobile device, receiving second image data generated by the mobile device, the second image data being reproducible as a second image of at least a portion of the first recalled component and associated with a second location of the mobile device, and validating a status of the first recalled component by comparing the first location of the mobile and the second location of the mobile device.
