    Abstract: A long life, low pressure drop, cyst reduction water filter includes two active layers, the first comprising a non-woven fiber layer of nominal submicron porosity that retains cysts, but provides a good flow rate, and an upstream protective layer of a different non-woven fiber layer that captures particulates which would otherwise overwhelm and plug the cyst reduction layer.
