  • Publication number: 20240074868
Abstract: An example method is provided for maintaining stability to an injury defined by a separation of two bones (e.g., the tibia and fibula), the separation being an injured distance greater than a pre-injury distance between the two bones in a first human patient. The method may include delivering a first apparatus for approximation of the two bones in the first human patient comprising the injury, the first apparatus including a flexible segment disposed between a first anchor and a second anchor. The method may further include maintaining, by the first apparatus, a restored distance between the two bones in the first human patient after a repetitive dynamic loading, the restored distance approximately equal to the pre-injury distance.

  • Patent number: 11510712
Abstract: A bone plate for treating periprosthetic fractures includes a head portion sized and shaped so that, in an operative position, a proximal end thereof aligns with a vastus ridge of a greater trochanter of a femur. The plate also includes a shaft portion extending distally from the head portion. The shaft portion includes offset holes to receive bone fixation elements therethrough. Each of the offset holes includes a first hole positioned on a first side of a longitudinal axis of the plate and a second hole positioned on a second side of the longitudinal axis opposite the first side so that bone fixation elements inserted therethrough extend anterior and posterior of a prosthetic received within the femur. The first and second holes are staggered relative to one another along a length of the shaft portion and extending beyond longitudinal edges of the shaft portion.

  • Publication number: 20220280209
Abstract: A bone plate for treating periprosthetic fractures includes a head portion to be positioned along a greater trochanter of a bone. The head portion includes pairs of bone fixation element receiving openings extending therethrough from a first surface of the plate which, when the plate is in an operative position, faces away from the bone, and a second surface which, when the plate is in the operative position, faces toward the bone. A pair of cable holes extend through the head portion from a first longitudinal side connecting the first and second surfaces to a second longitudinal side connecting the first and second surfaces. The head portion includes a pair of hooks for engaging a superior ridge of the greater trochanter. The plate also includes a shaft portion extending distally from the head portion to extend along a portion of the bone distal of the greater trochanter.

  • Publication number: 20110106113
Abstract: The invention includes a surgical fastener and associated deployment system and method that overcomes the drawbacks of prior art surgical mesh fixation devices. The surgical fastener and deployment system may be used to fixate a surgical mesh material to the abdominal wall for the purpose of hernia repair. In accordance with one embodiment, the fastener may include an anchor head comprising a bi-pyramid framework. The anchor head is preferably made from a highly deformable and biocompatible material that withstands high flexural strain within an oscillatory environment. The anchor head may be provided in an elongate, undeployed configuration, and then expanded during deployment into a second, generally planar configuration. The anchor head may be biased to expand into the generally planar configuration from the undeployed configuration in a variety of manners.
