  • Patent number: 9897821
Abstract: Protective eyewear including a primary frame is joined with first and second separate and independent protective elements that can move relative to one another. The frame can be constructed from polymeric material, and can include a central portion and opposing left and right side portions that extend rearward to attachment elements and subsequently a strap. The protective elements can be in the form of metal cages, each including a perimeter element that generally surrounds a user's eye and a transverse element that reinforces the perimeter element. The protective elements are primarily only connected via the frame and can move relative to one another, optionally about a flex element defined by the frame. This can enable the eyewear to readily conform to a variety of different facial contours thereby meeting the demand of different players having different facial structure.

  • Publication number: 20180021645
Abstract: A lacrosse head pocket includes a plug unit having first and second plugs disposed on a cross lace. The plugs are overmolded by first and/or second runners constructed from a polymeric material so that the plugs are joined with the first and/or second runners. The cross lace extends outwardly from the plug and the overmolded first and/or second runners. Some plug units can have cross laces that cross one another, while other plug units might not include cross laces that cross one another. A method is also provided including: forming a first plug on a first cross lace, placing the first plug in a mold, overmolding a first runner over at least a portion of the plug so the plug and first runner are joined, and optionally overmolding a second plug joined with the cross lace with a second runner or the same first runner.

  • Publication number: 20160206937
Abstract: A lacrosse head pocket and a related method of manufacture are provided. The pocket can include a longitudinal axis, with a first runner disposed laterally of the longitudinal axis on a first side, and a second runner disposed laterally of the longitudinal axis on an opposing second side. A strand is joined with and extends, optionally continuously, between the first and second runners. The strand is joined with a tensioning member that is selectively adjustable so as to extend and/or retract the strand, thereby altering lateral spacing between the first and second runners, and/or tightening any lacing between the runners and respective sidewalls of a lacrosse head. The tensioning member can be a reel-type tensioner, which can spool the strand on and/or off the reel. Generally, the tensioning member and strand cooperatively configure a ball receiving surface of the pocket. A related method of manufacturing the pocket also is provided.

  • Patent number: 9162126
Abstract: A lacrosse head pocket includes an elongated single layer runner with multiple cross pieces. The single layer runner can be constructed from a material, such as a polymeric material, molded over the cross pieces. The cross pieces and/or runner can include speed lace loops with which a net lace can be joined. A related method includes providing cross pieces, overmolding a polymeric material over the cross pieces to form a single layer runner, where the overmolded material is the only structure extending between and connecting the cross pieces, and where the cross pieces are transverse to the runners. Another method includes providing a pocket base overmolding the base with a polymeric material to cover portions of it, and forming connection elements between different portions independently of any other components of the pocket base.
