  • Publication number: 20200217306
Abstract: An energy harvesting system can comprise an actuator comprising a translationally displaceable surface, the translationally displaceable surface being configured to transition from a first position to a second position upon contact by a movable unit; a vertical rack in contact with the actuator, and configured to be translationally displaced in response to translational displacement of the actuator; a pinion configured to engage with the vertical rack and to rotate in response to translational displacement of the vertical rack; a main shaft coupled to the pinion and configured to rotate with rotation of the pinion; and a flywheel and a generator coupled to the main shaft, wherein rotation of the main shaft generates mechanical energy stored by the flywheel, and wherein the generator is configured to generate electrical energy from the mechanical energy stored by the flywheel.

  • Patent number: 10027187
Abstract: An energy distribution system is provided with a plurality of energy harvesting devices and a plurality of power draining devices in a wireless mesh energy network. One or more of the energy harvesting devices wirelessly transmits electrical energy to one or more of the power draining devices to power the power draining devices. The energy harvesting devices have harvesting mechanisms that harness and converts kinetic energy of motion, mechanical energy or other forms of energy from other sources into electrical energy. The power draining devices are configured to communicate a signal requesting for power and power data to the energy harvesting devices. The energy harvesting devices utilize the power data to prioritize which power draining devices will wirelessly receive electrical energy. This system would decrease or eliminate the need for attachment to the energy grid.

  • Publication number: 20180154201
Abstract: Provided is an energy harvesting device, comprising a first shell having a longitudinal axis, wherein the first shell defines a cavity, and a second shell, wherein the second shell is mechanically connected to the first shell via a flexible cord, wherein the cavity comprises therein a bearing, an electrical generator, and a battery, wherein the bearing is mechanically coupled to a rotor of the electrical generator at a first end and an end of the flexible cord at a second end, such that rotation of the flexible cord about the longitudinal axis rotates at least a portion of the bearing to generate electrical power, and wherein the rotor is in electrical communication with the battery, such that the battery stores at least a portion of the electrical power generated by the electrical generator.

  • Publication number: 20150005137
Abstract: A jump rope includes a first handle and a second handle. A rope connects the first handle and the second handle. The first handle defines a cavity. A generation module is disposed in the cavity and is fixed relative to the handle. The generation module includes a bearing, an electric generator, and a battery. A rotor of the electric generator is mechanically coupled to the bearing and an end of the rope is also coupled to the bearing. The electric generator is electrically coupled to the battery. Rotation of the rope relative to the handle causes at least a portion of the bearing to rotate relative to the handle. The rotation of the bearing rotates the generator which generates electric energy, at least a portion of which is stored in the battery.
