Abstract: The disclosure concerns systems for use in anastomosis of tubular biological organs within the body, particularly small tubular organs, such as blood vessels, bile duct, lymph duct, nerve ducts, epididymis, etc. The anastomosis system comprises a coupling device with a body, typically within a housing, a coupling assembly linked to the body, a plurality of suturing units within the coupling assembly, and an actuator arrangement formed within the coupling device.

Abstract: Provided is an anastomosis arrangement for joining two opposite stumps of a tubular organ in a streamlined anastomosis procedure. The arrangement includes a pair of axially symmetric stump-coupling members that accommodate pairs of counterpart suturing needles, linked together by common suturing threads, and manipulable by a needle-manipulation element to extract the needles tips from the stump-coupling members for piercing walls of the stump.

Abstract: An anastomosis system for performing anastomosis of a distal lumen with a proximal lumen is described. In one alternative the system includes an anastomosis element having a sensor assembly incorporated therein, the sensor assembly configured to sense the site of anastomosis. In another alternative the system includes an anastomosis component for performing anastomosis of a distal lumen with a proximal lumen; an applicator for applying the anastomosis component; and a sensor assembly connected to the applicator.

Abstract: A convenient to use test method for comparing the relative affinity of surfactants for the skin employs a solid or semisolid matrix for associating a dye or pigment with the skin. The dye or pigment has an affinity to either the skin or a surfactant adsorbed on the skin during personal cleansing. The matrix may include a reagent soluble polymer film or temporary tattoo.

Abstract: Liquid lamellar cleansing compositions are described that contain synthetic surfactants, hydrophilic emollients and exfoliant particles where 80% or more of the particles have a major axis length of between 100 and 1000 microns. The combination of the mild surfactants, moisturizers, and exfoliants provide the user with simultaneous moisturization and exfoliation in a convenient liquid cleansing product.

Abstract: A method and kit is provided for removing hair. The method includes applying to an area of skin from which hair is to be removed a skin pretreatment composition that includes a lipophilic material. Thereafter applied onto the pretreated area is a depilatory composition including a keratin degrading agent in an effective amount to chemically react with hair to allow wipe-away removal. A kit is also provided which includes a skin pretreatment product formed with a skin pretreatment composition including a lipophilic material delivered to the skin by a carrier. The kit further includes a depilatory product having a depilatory composition with a keratin degrading agent chemically reactive with hair to weaken the hair for removal, the depilatory composition being delivered from a carrier.

Abstract: A shaving cream composition and method is provided wherein the cream composition is packaged in an aerosol dispenser and includes a propellant system of dimethyl ether and hydrocarbon, an anionic surfactant, a fatty alcohol and a hydrophobic emollient. Total weight ratio of all hydrophobic emollients to all anionic surfactants ranges from about 50:1 to greater than about 1:1. An improved shaving experience is achieved through use of the dimethyl ether/hydrocarbon propellant, fatty alcohol and high level of hydrophobic emollient.

Abstract: An aqueous self-foaming liquid cleansing composition comprising a base lotion composition having a surfactant system containing an anionic surfactant, and a post-foaming agent, wherein the composition has a shear-thinning lamellar structure is described. In another embodiment, a low cost dispensing system is described for use with the inventive composition. In a futher embodiment, the inventive composition is substantially free of soap.
