  • Publication number: 20220272622
Abstract: Systems and methods related to a bootstrapping service for a network function (NF) in a core network of a cellular communications system are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method performed by a first NF in a core network of a cellular communications system comprises receiving, from a second NF, a request for services exposed by the first NF. The method further comprises, responsive to receiving the request, sending, to the second NF, information about one or more services exposed by the first NF. In one embodiment, the information about one or more services exposed by the first NF includes Application Programming Interface (API) versions of the one or more services. In this manner, flexibility is provided in the network since there is no need for static configuration of service parameters.

  • Patent number: 11284254
Abstract: Systems and methods that are particularly well-suited for service-based core network endpoint authentication are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a network node implementing a second network function in a core network of a cellular communications system comprises receiving, at a main service of the second network function, a request from a first network function for a desired service via Hypertext Transfer Protocol/Representational State Transfer (HTTP/REST) signaling. The request comprises information that identifies one or more delegate endpoints of the first network function that expose one or more delegate services, respectively, of the first network function for providing the desired service using one or more different communication styles. The method further comprises initiating the desired service using a selected delegate endpoint from the one or more delegate endpoints identified by the information comprised in the request.

  • Publication number: 20220060325
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for redirecting a user equipment with a routing misconfiguration. An exemplary method includes detecting a potential misconfiguration associated with the user equipment or a subscriber identity module (SIM) associated with the user equipment and generating an error code indicating the potential misconfiguration associated with the user equipment of the SIM associated with the user equipment. The error code is transmitted to an authentication module and indicates that the misconfiguration is an incorrect routing identifier and includes additional user information.

  • Publication number: 20220039003
Abstract: The present specification faces the issues of selecting a right 5G Network Function, NF, instance in scenarios wherein NF instances are considered NF segments that manage different sets of users and wherein NF segmentation is not based on SUPI ranges. To solve these issues, there is provided a new procedure for accessing an NF segment, wherein registration and discovery of the right NF segment is based on a Routing Indicator, and wherein the Routing Indicator, which is received with a Subscription Concealed Identifier (SUCI) identifying a UE, is included in any interaction between 5GC NFs.

  • Patent number: 11184760
Abstract: Systems and methods for updating subscriber data are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a serving node in a communication network for updating subscriber data includes receiving a modification of subscriber data for one or more subscribers and determining if updates to the subscriber data for the one or more subscribers are needed now. In response to determining that updates are needed now, the method includes communicating the modification for subscribers to one or more additional nodes and/or initiating other types of signaling towards other network nodes as a result. In response to determining that updates are not needed now, the method includes postponing the communication of the modification of the subscriber data for the one or more subscribers. In this way, signaling floods towards external network elements may be avoided when a modification is performed to subscription data that affects multiple subscribers (potentially even millions).
