Abstract: The present invention provides a network peripheral sharing system comprising a computer network, at least one client computer connected to the computer network, at least one server computer connected to the computer network, and a network address table containing network addresses of server computers connected to the computer network. Each client computer has a peripheral searching program that searches peripherals connected to the computer network and each server computer has at least one connected peripheral. The peripheral serving program in the server computer provides information on the status of peripherals to the client computer and transmits the status message of the peripheral to the client computer after receiving a request from the user thus establishing a link between the client computer and the peripheral.

Abstract: The present invention provides a resolution adjustment method for adjusting the resolution of a scanning module. The scanning module is installed in a scanner for scanning a document and comprises a case with a line-shaped opening on its top for receiving light from the document, a sensor installed in the case and comprising linearly arranged sensing units for scanning the light from the document and generating correspondent image signals, a lens installed in the case for converging the light from the document to the sensor, and a mirror module installed in the case for passing the light from the document through the lens to the sensor. The resolution adjustment method provides the scanning module with a calibration picture for generating a calibration image which comprises two groups of parallel lines in two directions for calibrating the resolutions of the sensor in the two different directions.

Abstract: The present invention provides a device and a method for determining the resolution of a multiple resolution scanner. The scanner comprises a housing with a transparent platform for placing a document, a scanning module movably installed in the housing, a driving device installed in the housing for driving the scanning module to scan the document, a calibration region installed in the housing with an identification mark, and a control circuit installed in the housing for controlling the operation of the scanner. The scanning module comprises a case with an opening on its top for receiving the light from the document, a sensor installed in the case for transforming the light from the document into corresponding image signals, a lens module installed in the case for converging the light from the document onto the sensor wherein the resolution of the lens module is variable, and a lens module control device installed in the case for changing the resolution of the lens module.
