  • Patent number: 4635300
Abstract: A unitary flexible protective glove molded of a resilient material and adapted to be easily worn on the hand for use in the art of karate and the like is disclosed. The glove, when worn, covers a portion of the lower forearm, the wrist, and the hand. The portion of the glove covering the wrist and hand is substantially tubular in shape and designed to wrap around the wrist and forearm without the need of any securing means. There is a thumb pocket having on the inside a restraining strap. There is also a grip loop for the index, middle, ring and little fingers which is in close proximity to a finger padding section. The finger padding section and grip loop are held in close proximity by a bridging strap. The glove is designed to facilitate easy insertion of the hand without the need of securing straps.

  • Patent number: 4300543
Abstract: This invention relates to protective cast devices for various parts of the body. The protective cast device of the present invention comprises a thin relatively rigid bendable lightweight closed cell member on which straps are fixed to form and hold the device about a body part. Once the device is bent and secured in one direction, it resists bending in any other direction. The member has a relatively more dense outer skin and a relatively less dense and more soft inner surface.

  • Patent number: 4287610
Abstract: A means for forming a protective or like device, wherein a development member is provided which forms the contoured surface of the device and the means by which the protective or like device is retained on the particular body member. The novel construction of the development member simplifies construction of the protective or like device and provides a contour which enables the protective or like device to more nearly approximate the hand position which is assumed during use of the protective or like device. Various modifications are adapted to cover various protective devices for the hand, wrist, arm and elbow.

  • Patent number: 4193135
Abstract: This invention relates to a protective device adapted to protect the hand, palm and wrist of a person while one is engaging in a sporting activity, such as skateboarding or football, and can also be used to retain the hand, palm, and wrist substantially immobile after an injury. The device has a contoured, generally rectangular shape constructed of a resilient, energy-absorbent material, such as plastic foam, which is coated or covered on at least one side with a covering layer. A bendable stiffening member is interposed between the covering layer and resilient material forming a sandwich-like construction. The peripheral edges of the resilient material and the covering layer extend beyond the peripheral edges of the stiffening member. The novel construction provides a generally cylindrical protective means when the device is worn. Suitable fastening means are provided to retain the device on the wearer's hand, palm and wrist.
