  • Patent number: 8881710
Abstract: A deflector mounts a carbon scrubber element at an atmospheric port of an evaporative emissions canister. A substantially cylindrical shell has an open end and a closed end. A spacer plate extends outwardly from the shell. An elastomeric ring is overmolded within the shell at a longitudinal position between the ends. The elastomeric ring has an inner diameter configured to sealingly receive the carbon element. A plurality of vapor apertures are formed in the shell between the spacer plate and the elastomeric ring. A plurality of elastomeric ribs are overmolded by the interior surface within the shell the vapor apertures and the closed end, and are configured to be spaced around the carbon element to suspend the carbon element spaced away from the shell without blocking a gaseous flow from the vapor vents to the carbon element.

  • Patent number: 6778864
Abstract: A system 10 for analyzing a component such as an air filter. System 10 may be created by and/or comprise software which resides within a conventional computer aided engineering (“CAE”) system. The system 10 utilizes a CAE model 12 to analyze the functionality or performance of an air filter based on certain attributes of the filter, such as the size, shape and media of the filter, and/or to determine certain attributes of the filter, such as the size of the filter, based on certain desired performance requirements of the filter.

  • Patent number: 6778870
Abstract: A design evaluation system 10 which evaluates a design 44 of a component or assembly, such as component or assembly 12. Particularly, system 10 includes a database 30 having several equality and inequality relationships which are required to be satisfied by the design 44. System 10 also includes several equality and inequality relationships which system 10 attempts to have satisfied by the design 44, but which are not required to be satisfied. System 10 further dynamically modifies the values of certain variables within the design 44 in order to substantially ensure that the design 44 is modified in a manner which is consistent with certain of the equality and inequality relationships which are contained within the database 30.

  • Patent number: 6741899
Abstract: A system 10 for designing an automotive component such as an air induction tube 22. A CAD system 18 receives certain programmable parameters 14 and a user selected integer value 16 by way of a user interface 12, and generates a tube design 22 having a number of curved portions which is equal to the integer value 16. Each portion the resulting tube 22 is independently programmable or modifiable, thereby providing a designer with a large degree of flexibility in altering the design and/or configuration of tube 22 without having to redesign an entirely new tube.
