  • Patent number: 8747147
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises an insulative housing, a metallic shell surround the insulative housing, a plurality of contacts and two detect pin retained to the insulative housing. The insulative housing is formed with a base and a tongue extending forwardly from the base. The shell and the insulative housing define a receiving cavity therebetween. The two detect pins are fastened to two opposite ends of the insulative housing, respectively, each has a detecting portion located in the receiving cavity, and the detecting portions of the two detect pins are disposed offset along a front-to-back direction for being selectively pushed by the mating plug. One of the contacts is formed with a wing contacting with the first detecting portion. The electrical connector can detect insertions of different mating plugs via the detect pins.

  • Publication number: 20140051302
Abstract: An electrical connector (100) includes an insulative housing (1), a plurality of contacts (3) received in the insulative housing (1), a shielding shell (6) enclosing the insulative housing (1) and a detecting contact (41). The insulative housing (1) includes a tongue (22) extending forwardly and enclosed by the shell (6) to form a mating space (101). The detecting contact (41) includes a first extending arm (413) extending into the mating space (101) horizontally and a first resisting portion (414) extending forwardly and bent from the first extending arm (413). The tongue (22) has a first recess (2231) depressing inside thereof. The first resisting arm (414) extends into the first recess (2231) and improves a deformation of the detect contact (41) to offer a stronger force for abutting against the shell.

  • Publication number: 20140051303
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises an insulative housing with a base portion and a tongue portion extending forwardly form the base portion, a plurality of contacts retained in the insulative housing and a shell surrounding the tongue portion to form a mating port. The shell has two side walls located at two sides of the mating port, and at least one side walls forming a detecting pad. A detecting contact is retained in the insulative housing and aligned with the detecting pad, and the detecting contact has a detecting arm extending forwardly. The side wall further has a bridge behind the detecting pad, the bridge and the detecting pad both protrude beyond the side wall to form a room therebetween, the room is beside the mating port and communicates with the mating port, and the detecting arm is received in the room and partly protrudes into the mating port.

  • Publication number: 20130316592
Abstract: An electrical connector 100 includes an insulative housing 1, a set of contacts 3 and a shell 6. The housing 1 includes a base 11 and a tongue 22 extending forwardly from the base 11. The shell 6 and the tongue 22 defines a receiving room 101 for receiving a mating connector. The electrical connector 100 further includes a first and a second detecting terminals 41, 42 retained in the housing 1 and located on two sides of the tongue 22. The first and second detecting terminals 41, 42 comprise a first and a second engaging portions 415, 425 extending into the receiving room 101. The first engaging portion 415 is located in a different position from the second engaging portion 425 along a front-to-rear direction. The electrical connector 100 could detect whether a mating connector is inserted and further detect whether a certain mating connector is inserted.
