  • Publication number: 20140115583
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for managing a Virtual Machine (VM) in a mobile communication system. Upon receiving a VM provisioning request message from a 3rd party entity, an Edge Cloud-Radio Access Network (EC-RAN) VM control command message, indicating that the Edge Cloud Management Controller (ECMC) commands a VM provisioning, is transmitted to an Edge Cloud Manager (ECM). An EC-RAN VM control command Ack message is received, including information indicating whether a VM host, which the EC-RAN VM control command message targets, accepts or rejects the EC-RAN VM control command message, and including a VM instance ID allocated to the VM host. A VM instance corresponding to the VM instance ID is registered and a status of the VM instance is set as an allocation status, after the EC-RAN VM control command Ack message is received from the ECM.

  • Patent number: 8705734
Abstract: A method and system for authenticating in a wireless communication system. The system includes a Mobile Terminal (MT), an authenticator, and an Authentication, Authorization, Accounting (AAA) server. When the authenticator requests NAI information for authentication, the MT adds an authentication code to the NAI, and sends a response message including the NAI information to the authenticator. The authenticator relays the NAI to which the authentication code is added, to the AAA server. The AAA server extracts the authentication code from the NAI information, verifies the authentication of the MT, generates a new authentication key, and transmits the new authentication key to the authenticator.

  • Patent number: 8634350
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving a paging message in a wireless communication system are provided. A Base Station (BS) transmits, to a Mobile Station (MS) in an idle mode, a Paging Group IDentification Information (PGID_Info) message including paging group information for a paging group to which the BS belongs, and frequency band-specific paging carrier information for indicating at least one of paging carriers included in each of a plurality of frequency bands operated by the BS. The BS determines a paging carrier for transmitting the paging message among paging carriers included in a frequency band supported by the MS, and transmits the paging message to the MS using the determined paging carrier. By doing so, reception of the paging message in the frequency band supported by the MS is guaranteed, thereby preventing the unnecessary location update procedure.

  • Patent number: 8559986
Abstract: A method and a system for relocating an Access Service Network (ASN) of a Mobile Station (MS) in a communication system are provided. In the method, when an MS that operates in an idle mode moves from a first ASN to a second ASN, the MS transmits a ranging request message to a base station of the second ASN in order to update a location. The base station transmits a location update request message to an ASN-GateWay (GW) of the second ASN according to the ranging request message. When the location update request message is received, the ASN-GW transmits a relocation notify message including type information for location update to the first ASN. The first ASN transmits a relocation notify response message including paging information to the ASN-GW according to the relocation notify message.
