  • Publication number: 20060192485
Abstract: An electroluminescence (EL) display device is disclosed with a microlens layer positioned between a light-emission layer and a color converting layer or a color filter layer. The microlens layer can be formed separately or integrally with an electrode of the EL display device. Light emitted from the light-emitting layer passes through an electrode and then through the microlens layer, which has a higher refractive index than the electrode to focus light in a predetermined direction. The light then passes through the color converting layer or a color filter layer to emit red, green, or blue light from the device. The microlens layer and color converting layer or color filter layer can be disposed for either active matrix or passive matrix, and for either a top-emission type, bottom-emission type, or dual emission type EL display device for improved external light coupling efficiency and brightness.

  • Patent number: 6626726
Abstract: A method for fabricating an indirectly-heated cathode structure including inserting a heater into a mold, injecting a thermoplastic resin into the space of the mold to embed the heater in the thermoplastic resin, inserting the heater embedded in the thermoplastic resin into a sleeve having a cap on an end, connecting the sleeve and the heater using a support body to assemble a cathode structure, and heating the cathode structure to remove the thermoplastic resin from the cathode structure. Therefore, in an indirectly-heated cathode structure, deviation of a heater from a center position in a sleeve can be prevented, and it is easy to adjust the gap between a heater, a sleeve, and a cap. Thus, the heater can be positioned at a desired position inside the sleeve, preventing current leakage due to a breakdown in the heater. In particular, the sleeve and the cap can be uniformly heated, reducing a local difference in thermion emitting density.

  • Publication number: 20030093835
Abstract: The regulation of flowering time in plants is dependent upon the presence or absence of protein products of several flowering genes. Phosphatidylethanolamine-binding proteins are one such group of proteins involved in determining flowering time. Ectopic expression of members of this family may either confer early flowering or late flowering to the plant. A chimeric protein containing regions of a late-flowering member of the PEBP family combined with regions of an early flowering member of the PEBP family is disclosed here. A variety of gene segments from the PEBP-encoding genes may be swapped based on the degree of modulation of flowering time that is desired. Plants transformed with the genes encoding these chimeric proteins have a more carefully modulated flowering time.
