  • Patent number: 11978846
Abstract: A solid electrolyte membrane for a solid-state battery and a battery comprising the same is provided. The battery may comprise lithium metal as a negative electrode active material. The solid electrolyte membrane comprises an inhibiting layer, which is preferably capable of inhibiting growth of lithium dendrite, because it includes an effective amount of a dendrite growth-inhibiting material, which is capable of ionizing lithium deposited in the form of metal. Thus, when lithium metal is used as a negative electrode for a solid-state battery comprising the solid electrolyte membrane, it is possible to delay and/or inhibit growth of lithium dendrite, and thus to effectively prevent an electrical short-circuit caused by dendrite growth.

  • Publication number: 20240128484
Abstract: A fuel cell system and a method of controlling the system are provided. The fuel cell system includes: a fuel cell having a plurality of cells to generate power through a reaction between hydrogen supplied to an anode space and oxygen supplied to a cathode space; a power storage device to be charged with power generated by the fuel cell or discharged to supply power; and a controller. The controller recirculates hydrogen, diffused from the anode space to the cathode space, into the anode space by supplying power charged in the power storage device to the fuel cell when the power generation of the fuel cell is stopped. The controller is configured to control whether to supply the power to the fuel cell based on a pressure measured in the anode space and voltages of the cells that constitute the fuel cell.

  • Patent number: 10923725
Abstract: A method for producing an anode for a lithium metal secondary battery includes coating a thin film comprised of Nb2C, Ti2C or Ti3C2 on a substrate; providing a lithium metal electrode; and laminating the thin film to a surface of the lithium metal electrode. Coating is accomplished by providing a dispersion of a powder comprising Nb2C, Ti2C or Ti3C2; and coating the dispersion on the substrate by Langmuir-Blodgett scooping (LBS). The method may further include, prior to providing the dispersion, obtaining the powder by etching a MAX phase structure represented by Formula 1, Formula 2 or Formula 3 below: Nb2AC??(1); Ti2AC??(2); and Ti3AC2??(3), where A is a metal selected from among Group IIIA elements, Group IVA elements, Cd, and combinations thereof. The method may further include, after laminating the thin film, removing the substrate from the thin film.

  • Publication number: 20190267630
Abstract: The aim of the present invention is to provide an electrolyte system for prolonging the life of lithium metal anode-based secondary batteries while maintaining the energy density of the batteries. The ultimate aim of the present invention is to use lithium metal in combination with cathodes, such as transition metal oxide, sulfur, and air electrodes, that are currently used in lithium ion batteries for future unmanned electric vehicles and grid energy storage systems as well as in lithium metal secondary batteries with high energy density. The use of lithium metal is also expected to contribute to the development of newly emerging unmanned aircrafts such as drones. The present invention is expected to be globally competitive in the secondary battery and electrochemical capacitor industries.
