  • Patent number: 7532210
Abstract: A driving method for an active matrix liquid crystal display panel includes the following steps. First, a frame period is divided into a display period (t1) and a black insertion period (tr). A gray-scale voltage is generated according to a desired corresponding light transmittance of each pixel of the liquid crystal display panel; and during the display period, the gray-scale voltage is supplied to a corresponding pixel electrode of the liquid crystal display panel. Then during the black insertion period, a restoring voltage Vh is supplied to the pixel electrode, so that the pixel is returned to an initial black state. Accordingly, the quality of motion pictures of the liquid crystal display panel is good.

  • Patent number: 7522241
Abstract: A liquid crystal display (2) has a first substrate (21), a second substrate (22), and liquid crystal molecules (26) interposed between the substrates. Curved first slits (211) and curved second slits (221) are defined at insides of the substrates respectively. When an electric field is applied between the substrates, the liquid crystal molecules are inclined to be oriented parallel to the substrates. In addition, the curved first slits and the curved second slits affect the orientations of the liquid crystal molecules, such that the liquid crystal molecules are directed to incline in various directions in smooth continuums. The visual effect of the continuous domain vertical alignment liquid crystal display is the sum of multiple smooth continuous domains. Thus the continuous domain vertical alignment liquid crystal display provides a more even display performance at various different viewing angles.

  • Patent number: 7446831
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device (100) includes an upper substrate (12), a lower substrate (11), and a liquid crystal layer (130) between the upper substrate and the lower substrate. The upper substrate includes an upper polarizer (143) and a color filter layer (127), the upper polarizer being an extraordinary type polarizer. The lower substrate includes a reflective film (119). A multiplicity of pixel electrodes (113) and common electrodes (111) are positioned at the lower substrate, for applying a voltage to the liquid crystal layer. The display device has a wide viewing angle, can work at high temperatures, and is relatively thin and compact. Further, the color filter layer is positioned above the upper polarizer. Optical beams reach the color filter layer after passing back through the liquid crystal layer and the upper polarizer. This reduces or eliminates color filter de-polarizing, and yields a high contrast ratio over wide viewing angles.

A plurality of curved first protrusions (211) and a plurality of curved second protrusions (221) are disposed at insides of the substrates respectively. In addition, the curved protrusions affect the orientations of the liquid crystal molecules, such that the liquid crystal molecules are directed to incline in various directions in smooth continuums. The visual effect of the continuous domain vertical alignment liquid crystal display is the sum of multiple smooth continuous domains. • Patent number: 7414689
Abstract: An IPS liquid crystal display (200) of a preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a first substrate (201), a second substrate (202), and liquid crystal molecules interposed therebetween. A plurality of gate lines (211) and data lines (212) are formed at the first substrate, thereby defining a plurality of pixel regions. A pixel electrode (233), a common electrode (243) and a TFT (220) are provided in each pixel region, the pixel electrode and the common electrode having a same curved shape. Because the pixel and common electrodes of have a same curved shape with smooth bends, when a voltage is applied, disclination of the liquid crystal molecules does not occur, and the contrast ratio of the IPS LCD is unimpaired. Furthermore, the electric field generated by them is a smooth continuum of multiple domains, and the IPS LCD provides equally fine visual performance at various different viewing angles.

  • Publication number: 20080176476
Abstract: An exemplary method for fabricating an organic light emitting display (OLED) (200) includes: providing a first substrate (210); providing moisture absorber (240) on the first substrate; processing the moisture absorber by using hydrogen plasma; providing a second substrate (220) having an organic light emitting unit (250) formed thereat; and attaching the first and second substrates together with a sealant, such that the moisture absorber and the organic light emitting unit are hermetically sealed between the first and second substrates, with the moisture absorber facing the organic light emitting unit. Because the moisture absorber is finished during the method for fabricating the OLED, and is sealed in the space between the first substrate and the second substrate soon after being finished, the moisture absorber is difficult to react with air. Thus, the OLED has improved quality.
