  • Patent number: 8065452
Abstract: A multifunctional universal serial bus (USB) wireless keyboard for operating a control function of a personal computer (PC) is presented. A main body of the keyboard includes a plurality of keys, a signal sending module, and a coding circuit. When the key is pressed, the coding circuit generates a corresponding character signal, and the signal sending module converts the character signal into a radio signal and sends the radio signal. A receiving module receives the radio signal, and transmits the radio signal to the PC. The receiving module further includes a clock control pin and a USB module electrically connected to the PC. An embedded controller is disposed in the PC and electrically connected to the receiving module through the clock control pin, and sends a corresponding function trigger signal to a south bridge chip set according to a pressing time of the received radio signal.

  • Patent number: 7350066
Abstract: A computer peripheral operating event responding method and system is proposed, which is designed for use in conjunction with a computer platform for providing a peripheral operating events responding function, and which is more advantageous to use than prior art particularly in that it can be implemented without utilizing keyboard scan code and IRQ/PCI interrupt signals to provide the peripheral operating events responding function and is capable of responding to both on-keyboard peripheral operating events (such as hot-key pressing events) and off-keyboard peripheral operating events (such as docking station engaging/disengaging event and multi-bay CD-ROM hot-plug event), thus representing a highly integrated and efficient solution for computer peripheral operating event responding functionality.

  • Publication number: 20060108985
Abstract: The present invention is to provide a protection method of dynamically adjusting a charging current for resolving problems of overcurrent-charging phenomenon and instability of supplying power for a system, in which a keyboard controller is applied to read the magnitude of charging current of a battery undergoing the charging process along with a control step performed on an output value according to the magnitude of charging current. As a result, the purpose of dynamically adjusting the charging current of the battery is accomplished for increasing the stability of supplying power for the system and preventing the battery from entering a protection mode.

  • Publication number: 20060038787
Abstract: A processing system and method for detecting hotkey activation allows a computer device to determine whether a keyboard hotkey is activated by a user and to execute a corresponding application program associated with the hotkey if being activated. The system and method respectively associate each bit in a first register and a second register with each hotkey. Altering a value of the bit in the first register allows the computer device to identify if the hotkey is being pressed, and altering a value of the bit in the second register allows the computer device to identify if the hotkey has been released. The computer device thus detects the operating status of the hotkey in a polling manner via the first and second registers, thereby providing an active processing way for detecting hotkey activation to maintain the stability of the computer device.

  • Patent number: 6973414
Abstract: A computer component operating temperature inspecting method and system is proposed, which is designed for use with a computer component that is equipped with a built-in temperature detecting function and is based on a standardized bus architecture, such as SMBus (System Management Bus) and I2C (Inter Integrated Circuit) compliant SMBus/I2C bus architecture, for the purpose of inspecting the current operating temperature of the computer component via the bus architecture, and which is capable of, in the event of the computer component being subjected to a deadlock condition, restoring the computer component back to normal operation to allow the computer component's current operating temperature to be able to be inspected. This feature can help protect the computer component from being burned out due to overheat that is otherwise undetectable in the event of deadlock, thereby ensuring the operating reliability of the entire computer system.

  • Publication number: 20050182880
Abstract: A system of switching the display status and its method are disclosed to switch the display status of an external display unit of a portable electronic device. A connect port is used to connect with the corresponding external display unit. An input signal is triggered to generate a trigger signal using a level unit. It enables a keyboard control (KBC) unit to send a system control interrupt (SCI) to notify the display control unit to produce the corresponding output signal. The output signal is used to switch the display status of the external display unit.

  • Publication number: 20040177344
Abstract: A debugging method is used for the keyboard controller code. Through the breakpoints set at the testing end and loaded debugging program, the keyboard controller code sends state data to the testing end at the breakpoints in accord with the debugging program. The testing end returns commands according to the received state data to trace the execution state of the code, thereby debugging the code procedure.

  • Patent number: 6754726
Abstract: A versatile memory chip programming device for memory chips is proposed, which is capable of writing data by way of an arbitrary type of I/O control chip, such as Southbridge chip, into a memory chip, such as a BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) chip used in a personal computer (PC). The proposed memory chip programming device is characterized by that the particular type of the Southbridge chip can be automatically detected to thereby set the write control module to operate in the corresponding mode that is compatible to the particular type of the Southbridge chip being currently coupled to the memory chip. This feature allows one single unit of memory chip programming device to be compatible to various types of Southbridge chips for BIOS upgrades so that BIOS upgrades can be made more cost-effective to implement than prior art.
