  • Patent number: 11173788
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a motor vehicle (2) which has an electric high-voltage network (3) and an electric low-voltage network (4), wherein the high-voltage network (3) has at least one traction battery (5) and at least one electric drive machine (6), the low-voltage network (4) has a vehicle electrical system battery (9), and the high-voltage network (3) is monitored for an electrical short-circuit and, upon detection of a short-circuit, the traction battery (5) is disconnected from the high-voltage network (3). According to the invention, in order to check the plausibility of the detected short-circuit before the traction battery (5) is reconnected to the high-voltage network (3), a boost current (IHV) is applied to the high-voltage network (3) through the low-voltage network (4) by means of a DC/DC converter (11), and a boost voltage (UHV) measured in the high-voltage network (3) is compared with an expected boost voltage (UHV,soll).

  • Patent number: 10988028
Abstract: A diagnosis method for the switching elements in a bidirectional DC-to-DC voltage converter comprising: charging a capacitor in the bidirectional DC-to-DC voltage converter to a predetermined first test voltage, then specifically actuating the switching elements in the bidirectional DC-to-DC voltage converter, and evaluating the voltage in the charged capacitor of the bidirectional DC-to-DC converter to identify a faulty switching element within the switching elements in the bidirectional DC-to-DC voltage converter.

  • Patent number: 10948360
Abstract: The present invention relates to a temperature monitoring for switching elements, in particular for a module having bipolar transistors with an insulated gate. For this purpose, the current operating parameters of the IGBT module are detected and, on the basis of said operating parameters, an expected temperature of the switching element is determined at a predetermined position. Said expected temperature is compared with a temperature detected at this position. If the actual temperature exceeds the expected temperature, then this is an indication of a malfunction.

  • Publication number: 20170054285
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for protecting an electrical load, in particular an electrical load having an inductance. For this purpose, the present invention provides a protection apparatus comprising an overcurrent protection device and a protection circuit. Upon the response of the overcurrent protection device, the protection circuit enables the decrease of the electrical voltage across the overcurrent protection device and the reduction of the electrical energy stored, if appropriate, in inductances of the electrical load upon the response of the overcurrent protection device.
