  • Patent number: 12368487
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus, and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for techniques for reducing feedback information in an extremely high throughput (EHT) wireless local area network (WLAN). A receiving device (beamformee), such as a station (STA), may receive a sounding signal from a transmitting device (beamformer), such as an access point (AP), and transmit channel feedback. The receiving device may transmit the channel feedback as part of a reduced compressed beamforming feedback (CBF) operation that includes determining a first set of channel characteristics. The receiving device may select a subset of the first set of channel characteristics and determine a set of differential characteristics based on the subset. The transmitting device may then transmit the sets of characteristics as reduced CBF to the transmitting device. The transmitting device may determine a channel estimation for beamformed signaling based on the reduced CBF.

  • Publication number: 20250226911
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, components, devices and systems for signaling designs for unequal modulation and modulation and coding scheme (MCS) indication. Some aspects more specifically relate to user info field designs to support such an unequal modulation indication and/or an MCS indication, including designs for user info fields of multi-user (MU) physical layer (PHY) protocol data units (PPDUs) and of Trigger frames. In some examples, an access point (AP) may configure a user info field to include at least five bits for MCS signaling, which may enable the AP to uniquely identify an MCS from a set of greater than 16 MCSs. Additionally, or alternatively, the AP may configure a user info field to include a subfield indicative of a pattern of modulation schemes (such as an equal modulation or an unequal modulation) across a set of spatial streams allocated for communication between the AP and a station (STA).

  • Publication number: 20250211473
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for increasing carrier frequencies for wireless communications in wireless local area networks (WLANs). Some implementations more specifically relate to packet designs and numerologies that support wireless communications on carrier frequencies above 7 GHz. In some aspects, a wireless communication device may up-clock a physical layer (PHY) convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) for transmission on carrier frequencies above 7 GHz, where the PPDU conforms to an existing PPDU format associated with carrier frequencies below 7 GHz. As used herein, the term “up-clocking” refers to increasing the frequency of a clock signal used to convert the PPDU between the frequency domain and the time domain. In some aspects, the up-clocking may result in a subcarrier spacing (SCS) greater than or equal to 1.2 MHz, where the SCS represents a spacing between the subcarriers on which a PHY preamble of the PPDU is modulated.

  • Publication number: 20250212062
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, components, devices and systems for communications for fast link adaptation (FLA). In some examples, a transmitter may transmit an FLA information request via a physical layer (PHY) protocol data unit (PPDU). In some examples, the PPDU may include (such as in a media access control (MAC) header) a bit which can be turned on to request a second FLA element indicating one or more parameters for a proposed (such as, updated) quantity of spatial streams.

  • Patent number: 12284067
Abstract: Various aspects relate generally to the generation and wireless transmission of a long training field (LTF) and a data field within a 320 MHz or 240 MHz bandwidth channel. The LTF includes an LTF sequence based on a concatenation of a plurality of LTF subsequences, each LTF subsequence being associated with a channel bandwidth less than the total bandwidth of the channel, each of the plurality of LTF subsequences being selectively phase-rotated to reduce a peak-to-average power ratio. Each of the plurality of LTF subsequences may be associated with an LTF designed for an 80 MHz bandwidth channel. The LTF and the data field may then be transmitted in a wireless packet to at least one second wireless communication device via the 320 MHz or 240 MHz bandwidth channel.

  • Patent number: 12250670
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for encoding data for wireless communication to achieve a desired amplitude distribution. Some implementations more specifically relate to performing an encoding operation to shape the amplitudes of the resultant symbols such that the amplitudes have a non-uniform distribution. In some implementations of the non-uniform distribution, the probabilities associated with the respective amplitudes generally increase with decreasing amplitude. Some implementations enable the tracking of MPDU boundaries to facilitate successful decoding by a receiving device. Additionally or alternatively, some implementations enable the determination of a packet length after performing the amplitude shaping, which enables a transmitting device to determine the number of padding bits to add to the payload and to signal the packet length to a receiving device so that the receiving device may determine the duration of the packet.

  • Publication number: 20250030503
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, components, devices and systems for partial bandwidth feedback for 480 and 640 MHz transmission in Wi-Fi. Some aspects more specifically relate to the inclusion of a partial bandwidth information field in a null data packet (NDP) announcement frame that indicates for which frequency portions of the 480 or 640 MHz channel bandwidth to generate channel information feedback. In some examples, a receiving device (for example, a station (STA)) may perform channel estimation on an NDP and transmit a beamforming report to the transmitting device (for example, an access point (AP)) based on the NDP. The transmitting device schedules the NDP using an NDP announcement frame, which includes the partial bandwidth information field. The partial bandwidth information field in the NDP announcement frame may include a frequency resolution field and a bitmap with values and lengths based on the channel bandwidth being 480 or 640 MHz.
