  • Patent number: 8587722
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for automatically controlling the phase of the clock signal for sampling an HDTV signal, which implements a new and improved method for phase detection. The system and method utilize the standard format of an HDTV signal to consistently ensure accurate phase detection. Particularly, the system and method detect the target phase for the sampling clock using a tri-level sync pattern that exists at the beginning of each display line. This tri-level sync pattern or “sync pulse” is well suited for phase detection since it includes several static areas separated by substantial transitions. Furthermore, by using the sync pulse of the HDTV signal, the system and method provide consistent and accurate results, since the sync pulse will not change regardless of the whether the video data is static or in motion.

  • Patent number: 8519928
Abstract: A method and system for frame insertion in a digital display system is provided. The method is adapted for use with a liquid crystal display (LCD) type display and is effective to substantially reduce motion blur. The LCD display receives a sequence of digitized input frames at a first frequency. The method generates a sequence of output frames that include the digitized input frames interspersed with a plurality of modified frames. Each of the modified frames is substantially similar to a preceding digitized input frame, but has a reduced luminance. The modified frames may be generated by multiplying a preceding digitized input frame by a reduced luminance factor. The reduced luminance factor may be determined as a fixed value or as a function of an average pixel level of a preceding frame.

  • Publication number: 20130136369
Abstract: Method for searching for a small moving object is used to insert an inserting image frame between two adjacent image frames. An inserting region in the inserting image frame is selected. Multiple preset extending directions passing through the inserting region are selected. The extending directions respectively intersect the two image frames simultaneously to analyze whether the extending directions satisfy a condition of movement of the same image object, and obtain at least one motion vector (MV) corresponding to the extending direction. A globe MV between the first image frame and the second image frame is obtained. It is compared whether a motion-vector difference between the at least one MV and the globe MV is smaller than a setting value, and then first local-region image data and second local-region image data corresponding to the MV are used for compensation to produce an inserting image for the inserted region about background.

Multiple extending directions passing through the inserting region are selected. Each of the extending directions extends and intersects with the two image frames to analyze out which one of the extending directions satisfies the condition of movement by the same object, and obtain at least one motion vector corresponding to the extending direction. A globe motion vector between the two image frames is obtained. A motion-vector difference between the at least one motion vector and the globe motion vector is compared to judge whether greater than a setting value. If the motion vector difference is greater than the setting value then the first local-region image data and the second local-region image data are treated as a small moving object.
