  • Publication number: 20100291927
Abstract: A method of selecting a private cell for providing communication to a communication device (222) in a communication system (200) comprising a plurality of private cells (202, 204, 206, 208) comprises identifying (400) private cells available to the communication device for establishing communication, determining (402) a priority value from a plurality of priority values for each of the identified private cells for the communication device, and selecting (404) a private cell for providing communication from the identified private cells according to the determined priority values of the identified private cells. Each private cell may be associated with a predetermined type of private cell for the communication device. The priority values for each of the identified private cells may then be determined according to the predetermined type associated with the identified private cell.

  • Publication number: 20090009986
Abstract: This invention relates to an illuminating tool and particularly to a headlamp that may be worn on a human head for use and may be dismantled. In a skill of this invention, the headlamp that may be dismantled comprises a fixture with a head strap, and a floodlight. The floodlight comprises a lamp body and a lamp receptacle, being characterized in that the head body and lamp receptacle of the floodlight is an all-in-one unit. The fixture mount may be dismantled from the floodlight or inserted to match with each other. In the manner, the floodlight may be taken apart from the fixture mount to serve as an ordinary flashlight for an extra use of the headlamp.

  • Patent number: 7362734
Abstract: According to the present invention there is provided a method of transmitting user data in a TDMA system in which the number of channels is increased by partitioning at least one time-slot in a TDMA frame into at least two sub-time-slots. Each sub time-slot may be allocated to a different user. User data may be transmitted in each time slot in a burst structure, user data being transmitted in each sub time-slot in a corresponding burst structure. User data may be transmitted in each time slot in a burst structure having n bits and wherein each time slot is partitioned into m sub time slots, user data being transmitted in each sub time-slot in a corresponding burst structure having n/m bits.

  • Patent number: 7206326
Abstract: A method of encoding at least two sets of data bits into a single encoded block is provided, wherein each set of data bits includes a primary set of bits to be encoded and a secondary set of bits to remain unencoded, wherein the encoding technique requires a set of code terminating bits to be added to the primary set of bits; the method comprising: combining the two sets of primary bits, whereby one set of code terminating bits is added to the combined two sets of primary bits. The two sets of data bits may each include a header portion and a payload portion, the payload portion comprising encoded speech. The encoding step may be a channel encoding step for encoding the at least two sets of data bits for transmission on a packet switched network. The data bits may be for transmission on an EDGE packet switched network, wherein the at least two sets of data bits are encoded into a single RLC/MAC block.

  • Patent number: 7146312
Abstract: There is disclosed in a packet switched network a method of encoding speech packets into blocks, each speech packet including a speech header and a payload comprised of a speech frame, wherein at least two speech frames are encoded into a single block. Each speech frame may be associated with a different user. An EDGE network utilizes such a method.

  • Patent number: 6987813
Abstract: There is disclosed in a packet switched network a method of encoding at least two packets into a single block. Each packet is associated with a header portion. The at least two packets are associated with the same user. The method comprises encoding the at least two packets and only one of the associated header portions. An EDGE network utilizing such a method is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6934270
Abstract: In the GPRS, a method of decoding uplink status having reduced interleaving depth in a RLC/MAC block is proposed; for RT-EGPRS users, all of the uplink flag bits are provided in the first burst of the four bursts; and for EGPRS users, nine bits of the uplink status flags are provided in the first burst of the RLC/MAC block and the remaining bits in the next three bursts. On receiving the first nine bits, a mobile performs an autocorrelation to identify the USF whether it belongs to the EGPRS or to the RT-EGPRS group.

  • Patent number: 6647262
Abstract: The system includes a network having a base controller (30) and a mobile station (32). The base controller (30) has a packet measurement order unit (34) which causes a package measurement reporter (68) in the mobile station to provide a measurement report. This report is stored in a buffer (44) and compared with reference values on a reference unit (48). If a change of cell is warranted, a packet cell change order unit (50) issues a command which is recorded by packet cell change unit (58) of the mobile station to retune the transmitter and receiver (54 and 56) to a new cell. The mobile station also has a unit (64) which generates a package cell change request to the base controller (30) to initiate a package cell change order from the unit (50) when a change is warranted.

  • Publication number: 20010018770
Abstract: In a GPRS or EDGE or UMTS system, a real-time video service is provided by selecting one of a small number, e.g. four, predetermined channel coding rates applicable for video, applying the rate to the video data in the application layer, and transmitting the data over the radio interface to a mobile system together with, for each burst, a header indicating the selected coding rate and a temporary flow indicator. The short header allows video payload capacity to be increased. One of the predetermined channel coding rates is a {fraction (1/1)} or transparent rate.
