Publication number: 20170337918Abstract: A Deep Neural Network (DNN) model used in an Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system is restructured. A restructured DNN model may include fewer parameters compared to the original DNN model. The restructured DNN model may include a monophone state output layer in addition to the senone output layer of the original DNN model. Singular value decomposition (SVD) can be applied to one or more weight matrices of the DNN model to reduce the size of the DNN Model. The output layer of the DNN model may be restructured to include monophone states in addition to the senones (tied triphone states) which are included in the original DNN model. When the monophone states are included in the restructured DNN model, the posteriors of monophone states are used to select a small part of senones to be evaluated.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2017Publication date: November 23, 2017Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Jian XUE, Emilian STOIMENOV, Jinyu LI, Yifan GONG

Publication number: 20170186065Abstract: A method for selecting a product to display on a webpage of an e-commerce website. Online user behavior data associated with a plurality of merchants selling products on the webpage is obtained. The behavior data is user actions performed online with respect to merchants. The behavior data is analyzed to determine a most relevant group of the users for each merchant. The most relevant group is compared to a targeted group of the webpage to determine a rate of overlap for each merchant. The rate of overlap represents a percentage of the most relevant group that matches the targeted group. A top merchant is selected based on the highest rate of overlap. A top product being sold by the top merchant is selected to display on the webpage. The top product is displayed on the webpage of the e-commerce web site to an end user.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2015Publication date: June 29, 2017Inventors: Shenghuo ZHU, Jian XUE, Ling YAN, Rong JIN, Shijun WANG

Patent number: 9520127Abstract: Providing a framework for merging automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems having a shared deep neural network (DNN) feature transformation is provided. A received utterance may be evaluated to generate a DNN-derived feature from the top hidden layer of a DNN. The top hidden layer output may then be utilized to generate a network including a bottleneck layer and an output layer. Weights representing a feature dimension reduction may then be extracted between the top hidden layer and the bottleneck layer. Scores may then be generated and combined to merge the ASR systems which share the DNN feature transformation.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2014Date of Patent: December 13, 2016Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Jinyu Li, Jian Xue, Yifan Gong

Patent number: 9324321Abstract: The adaptation and personalization of a deep neural network (DNN) model for automatic speech recognition is provided. An utterance which includes speech features for one or more speakers may be received in ASR tasks such as voice search or short message dictation. A decomposition approach may then be applied to an original matrix in the DNN model. In response to applying the decomposition approach, the original matrix may be converted into multiple new matrices which are smaller than the original matrix. A square matrix may then be added to the new matrices. Speaker-specific parameters may then be stored in the square matrix. The DNN model may then be adapted by updating the square matrix. This process may be applied to all of a number of original matrices in the DNN model. The adapted DNN model may include a reduced number of parameters than those received in the original DNN model.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2014Date of Patent: April 26, 2016Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Jian Xue, Jinyu Li, Dong Yu, Michael L. Patent number: 8813308Abstract: A vacuum cleaner having an elongate body portion 11 which is mounted at its lower end via a neck 15 to the rear of a wheeled floor-engaging head portion 10, the body 11 being pivotable in use relative to the head about a first axis A1 for movement upwardly and downwardly and about a second orthogonal axis A2 for movement from side-to-side. A catch 17 is disposed on the neck 15 for preventing pivotal movement of the body 11 about the second axis A2 when the body 11 is disposed in its most upright position. The provision of the catch 17 improves the stability of the cleaner when the cleaner is not in use or when it is being used for above floor cleaning.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2011Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Assignee: Hoover, LimitedInventor: Jian Xue

Patent number: 8667641Abstract: A vacuum cleaner comprises an elongate upright body 11 pivotally connected to a floor-engaging foot 10 comprising a motor and fan unit 17 for creating an airflow through the cleaner, the airflow extending between respective ducts 32, 18 in the body 11 and the foot 10 along a neck 20, which is rotatably connected at its lower end to the duct 18 in the foot 10 for rotation about an axis A which extends transversely of the foot 10. The neck 20 acts to support the body 11 on the foot 10 and acts as the point about which relative pivotal movement of the body 10 and foot 11 occurs. An arm 40 is coupled to the neck 20 for actuating a mechanism, which lifts the foot 10 away from the floor surface when the body 10 is in the upright position, so as to prevent the rotating agitator brush 16 in the foot 10 from damaging the floor surface while the cleaner is stood in the upright position when performing above-floor cleaning.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2011Date of Patent: March 11, 2014Assignee: Hoover LimitedInventor: Jian Xue

Publication number: 20110225766Abstract: A vacuum cleaner includes a body having a cavity, an outlet for cleaned air, a filter removably mounted in the cavity upstream of the outlet, at least one device mounted in the body upstream of the filter for separating and collecting dirt and dust entrained in an induced airflow through the cleaner, and a closure for closing an opening in the cavity, the closure being openable for providing access to the filter and separation device through the opening. An arm extends into the cavity for engaging a formation on the filter, the latter holding the arm in a retracted position. If the filter or a component of the separation device is omitted or incorrectly inserted in the body, the arm adopts an extended position and prevents the closure from being closed. In this manner the user is immediately alerted to the fact that the filter or a component of the separation device is not correctly in-situ and remedial action can be taken.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2011Publication date: September 22, 2011Inventor: Jian Xue
