    Abstract: This application discloses a clock synchronization method and a related apparatus in a distributed system. The distributed system includes a plurality of nodes, and the plurality of nodes include a master node and a plurality of slave nodes. The master node obtains a plurality of local clock offsets, where each of the plurality of local clock offsets indicates a clock offset between two nodes in the distributed system. The master node determines a global clock offset of a target slave node relative to the master node based on the plurality of local clock offsets, and sends the global clock offset to the target slave node. The target slave node obtains a clock reference value of a local clock, and then performs clock synchronization based on the clock reference value and the global clock offset.

The active transaction is a transaction that is being executed. In addition, a corresponding transaction management method is provided. The CSN is used to replace an active transaction linked list. This reduces network traffic and improves concurrency and scalability of the database system.

    Abstract: An improved board management controller provides a stable operating environment. The board management controller comprises a flash memory device and a microprocessor. The flash memory device is partitioned into a boot area, a first partition and a second partition in advance. The boot area stores a bootup firmware, the first partition is formatted as a first file system, the second partition is formatted as a second file system, and the first operating system image file and the first software application are stored in the first file system. The second operating system image file and the second software application are stored in the second file system. Multiple advantages are provided by the board management controller, comprising flexible space configuration, the ability to recover from damaged faults, and high data reliability. The efficiency of the operation has also been improved to speed up the startup of the board management controller.

    Abstract: A computer system and a method for booting up the computer system. In the computer system, a first memory device stores a first firmware, and a second memory device stores a second firmware. A programmable device is connected to the first memory device and the second memory device, comprising a selector device and a monitor circuit. The selector device provides a path switch function for selecting the first memory device or the second memory device as the selected firmware. The computer system has a processor connected with the programmable device, which can load and execute the selected firmware according to the path switch function. When the computer system is powered on, the monitor circuit determines whether the processor successfully loads and executes the selected firmware. If unsuccessful, the monitor circuit changes the path switch function to load and execute an alternatively selected firmware after the processor is reset.

    Abstract: Presented herein are embodiments of a multimodal Recurrent Neural Network (m-RNN) model for generating novel image captions. In embodiments, it directly models the probability distribution of generating a word given a previous word or words and an image, and image captions are generated according to this distribution. In embodiments, the model comprises two sub-networks: a deep recurrent neural network for sentences and a deep convolutional network for images. In embodiments, these two sub-networks interact with each other in a multimodal layer to form the whole m-RNN model. The effectiveness of an embodiment of model was validated on four benchmark datasets, and it outperformed the state-of-the-art methods. In embodiments, the m-RNN model may also be applied to retrieval tasks for retrieving images or captions.

Check codes of data in the storage block are transmitted to the remote upgrade device, each corresponding to one of the block numbers transmitted to the computer system. The remote upgrade device compares the received check codes with check codes of the file blocks corresponding to same block numbers in the new file. The upgrade method can skip the steps to transmit, erase and write existed file blocks based on the comparison result, and thus significantly improves the efficiency of remote upgrade.
