  • Patent number: 8747901
Abstract: Pharmaceutical formulations exhibit a desirably low Cmax, among other properties, that contain particles of amorphous bardoxolone methyl, either in pure form or in the form of a solid dispersion, admixed with particles of a hydrophilic binding agent. Such formulations possess the advantage of higher oral bioavailability, relative to formulations based on the crystalline form of bardoxolone methyl.

  • Publication number: 20140101368
Abstract: A processor is provided that binds itself to a circuit such that the processor cannot be subsequently reused in other circuits. On a first startup of the processor, a memory segment of an external volatile memory device is read to obtain information prior to initialization of the memory segment. An original/initial identifier may be generated from the information read from the memory segment. The original/initial identifier may then be stored in a non-volatile storage of the processor. On subsequent startups of the processor, it verifies that the processor is still coupled to the same external volatile memory device by using the stored identifier. For instance, on a subsequent startup, the processor again reads the same memory segment of the external memory device and generates a new identifier. If the identifier matches the previously stored identifier, then the processor may continue its operations; otherwise the processor is disabled/halted.

  • Publication number: 20140020081
Abstract: Disclosed is a portable token device that may be used to assist a user in generating a PIN at one device and to then pass the PIN to another device such that the two devices can securely communicate with one another. The portable token device may include: an interface; and a processor. The processor may execute operations including: determining if a close proximity coupling through the interface to a first device has occurred; transmitting a PIN request to the first device; and obtaining a PIN. Further, the processor may determine if a close proximity coupling through the interface to a second device has occurred. If so, the processor may command transmitting the PIN to the second device. The second device may perform device registration with the first device based upon the received PIN.

  • Patent number: 8596372
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for thermally initiated triggering of an aerosol fire extinguisher having a strike pin (6) acted upon by an inner spring (7) and locked in the stand-by state, and after thermal initiation, the lock is removed and the strike pin (6), driven by the force of the inner spring (7), strikes against a mechanical firing cap (1), whereby an initial firing material is released in the firing cap (1), igniting a booster charge (2), the hot conversion gas thereof igniting a pyrotechnic extinguisher charge in the aerosol fire extinguisher. In order that an absolutely reliable initiation takes place under the same conditions throughout the entire service life of the aerosol fire extinguisher, it is proposed that only immediately after the thermal initiation, when the firing pin (6) is still locked, the inner spring (7) is brought to the necessary tension for triggering the firing cap (1), and only after reaching said tension is the lock of the firing pin (6) automatically released.

  • Patent number: 8504836
Abstract: A domain key is securely distributed from a device in an existing network to a device outside the network. Each device generates the session key on its own using the first random number, the second random number, the Personal Identification Number, and the same key generation function. The device in the existing network sends the domain key encrypted with the session key to the other device.

  • Patent number: 8457358
Abstract: Improvements are provided to effectively assess a user's face and head pose such that a computer or like device can track the user's attention towards a display device(s). Then the region of the display or graphical user interface that the user is turned towards can be automatically selected without requiring the user to provide further inputs. A frontal face detector is applied to detect the user's frontal face and then key facial points such as left/right eye center, left/right mouth corner, nose tip, etc., are detected by component detectors. The system then tracks the user's head by an image tracker and determines yaw, tilt and roll angle and other pose information of the user's head through a coarse to fine process according to key facial points and/or confidence outputs by pose estimator.

  • Patent number: 8438621
Abstract: A method, device and system for securely managing debugging processes within a communication device, such as a set top box or other multimedia processing device. For example, a security processor (SP) within the communication device manages the lifetime (LT) of any access token issued for use in activating debugging privileges within the communication device. The security processor authenticates an issued access token and securely delivers appropriate debug authorization information to the device controller. The security processor uses its secure, internal timer to count down the lifetime and update the remaining lifetime of the issued access token during the processing of each command by the security processor. In addition to securely managing the issuance of the access token and it's remaining lifetime, the updating process reduces any impact on the normal communications within the device. The method overcomes the issue of the communication device not having a secure internal clock.

  • Patent number: 8422802
Abstract: Techniques for construction of a visual codebook are described herein. Feature points may be extracted from large numbers of images. In one example, images providing N feature points may be used to construct a codebook of K words. The centers of each of K clusters of feature points may be initialized. In a looping or iterative manner, an assignment step assigns each feature point to a cluster and an update step locates a center of each cluster. The feature points may be assigned to a cluster based on a lesser of a distance to a center of a previously assigned cluster and a distance to a center derived by operation of an approximate nearest neighbor algorithm having aspects of randomization. The loop terminates when the feature points have sufficiently converged to their respective clusters. Centers of the clusters represent visual words, which may be used to construct the visual codebook.

  • Publication number: 20130091353
Abstract: A method and apparatus are for transferring a client device certificate and an associated encrypted client private key to a client device from a secure device. The secure device receives over a secure connection, a secure device certificate, a secure device private key and a plurality of client device certificates. Each client certificate is associated with a bootstrap public key but is not assigned to any particular client device. A plurality of encrypted client private keys is also received. Each of the encrypted client private keys comprises a client private key associated with one of the client device certificates encrypted with the bootstrap public key. The plurality of client device certificates is stored. The encrypted client private keys are stored in double encrypted protected form. A client device certificate and an associated encrypted client private key are transferred to a client device that has successfully registered with the secure device.
